The guy in OP's story deserves an exception. If you have season tickets, you're a true fan.

Talk about bandwagon fans. All the leftover fans from the Southeast United States who have no loyalty to their home state. Is there anything worse than a fan from outside Alabama who acts like they are true fans? I know a pharmacist from South MS who has season tickets and never went to Bama nor has any ties to the program. No sir, their fans are the epitome of Walmart T-shirt culture. Great team. Great coach. But the fans blow chunks. Paul Finebaum is your case in point. All alumni, please disregard the above.

I was born and raised in Tuscaloosa, Graduated from Alabama in 2000, I have season tickets since I graduated in 2000. I welcome anyone who wants to be a Bama fan regardless of the reason. Not really sure why it matters.

Roll MF Tide to all the sidewalk, Walmart, Johnny-come-lately fans! What kept ya!!

I have never understood the problem with sidewalk fans considering that every single SEC fan base is 80-90% sidewalk. Its all the same. As for bandwagon, the same number of people in Alabama are Bama fans as there were 15 years ago

Those are the fans the original poster is talking about. Every school has some fans like that, but at Bama, it's an epidemic. True Bama alums or people with ties to the school are typically not insufferable, and are generally pleasant.

Exactly!!! You just met an a-hole and every school does have fans like that. No need to belittle and categorize the people who have no formal affiliation with a school. You like who you like and for whatever reason.

Ok. I wasn't the best at business calculas or accounting, but I was extremely proficient in marketing, mgmt, and advertising. Good call I guess?
Which means you're the guy who hired the accountants and analysts to work for you.

Would you care to back that up with a link? The last time I met an Ole Miss sidewalk fan was 1971. He was a used car salesman in Tupelo wearing an Archie's Army shirt.

Good day, sir.

If the only fans allowed in our stadiums were alumni, there would be a lot of empty seats in every single SEC stadium. It doesn't matter where you went to school. It matters what your football religion is in the South.

Been a Bama fan my whole life. Couldn't afford tuition so started JC. Got draft notice in 1967, served in Vietnam and have worked for the Army for 46 years. No one who attended UA has a greater love for the program. If you elitist A-Holes want to lable me a "Walmart" fan go ahead. I will say this if you went to school at UA because your Daddy paid your way you have no more right to cheer than all of the Walmart fans across the nation. A bought and paid for class ring does not make you a true fan.

Went back and read thread post, your post sums up what needs to be said...

Roll Tide !!!!!
