Let's evaluate these 2 teams based on the first two games of the season. The hard thing to compare is the level of opponents but I will take that into account.

QB
Kelly 29/40/557/6/1
Coker 30/47/427/2/1
Kelly has been hitting on all cylanders. Started off first 4 drives last night with 3 TD passes and a TD run. Coker has had some good throws and some bad throws. The edge has to go to Kelly here but it might be a closer battle than some think. Edge: OM

WR/TE
OM
Treadwell 9/117/0
Core 8/176/2
Adeboyjo 8/153/4
Engram 1/5/0
Bama
Foster 8/99/2
Stewart 10/65/0
Ridley 7/59/0
Howard 7/105/0
The weapons that Kelly has to work with are more experienced than the young group that Bama runs out there. Although Howard is going to be the force he is supoed to be this year, Treadwell and company have to take the edge here in experience and production. Most of Bama's passing success has come in the screen game to Drake as well. Advantage: OM

OL

There isn't a whole lot to say here. If Tunsil plays OM has a little above average line, if he doesn't then it becomes very pedestrian and a possible weakness that cost OM the game. Bama is solid and deep as always led by future top 10 pick Cam Robinson. Advantage: Bama by a lot

RB
OM
Walton 9/103/2
Wilkins 13/81/0
Judd 15/86/1
Bama
Henry 31/243/6
Drake 16/117/1
The thunder and lightning combo should work great against an OM DLine that has had a slight weakness against a consistant down kill running game over the last couple of years. Walton and Wilkins need to make some "dirty runs" to keep the OM offense on schedule and to keep the pass rush off of Kelly as much as possible. Advantage: Bama

DL
OM
Brown
Nkemdichie
Haynes
Hamilton
Bama
Reed
Lake Robinson
Both units are extremely efficient at what they do. They cause havoc on passing situations and block holes to let LB's run free and make plays. This one might be too close to call. Advantage is a push. Bama does have an advantage over OM's OL. OM needs to challange the Bama OL.

LB
This is another major advantage for Bama. OM has some guys that can move and make tackles but the LB core of Ragland and company for Bama is just nasty. Advantage: Bama

DB
OM
Bridges and Webster CB's
Hilton and Elston S's
Connor Husky
Bama
Jones and Humphrey CB's
Jackson and Smith S's
Fitzpatrick Star
This OM group of DB's are experienced on the back in with a lot of talent that isn't as experienced outside. Hilton moved from CB to S to fill the gap Prewitt left because OM feels great about 3 CB's that will be thrust into their first big road test of their careers. Bama's' DB's are bad but they seem to be good in run support but lack a little in coverage. Advantage: OM

I think this game comes down to 2 things. Can OM run the ball and keep Kelly on his feet long enough to exploit the possible holes on the back end of the Bama defense and can the OM front 7 do enough to keep Bama from 2nd and 5 and 3rd and short to get Kelly and company back on the field.

Prediction : OM 31 Bama 24

Engram and Treadwell are still playing for Ole Miss? How old are they now, 29?

All advantages to AlaBama based on playing one team with a PULSE.

What type of offense does OM run? Is it a straight spread or a read option or what? I feel like I should know this but I literally have not watched any of Ole Miss at all.

This is a pretty unbiased analysis. Well done.

The two teams are not far apart IMO. I believe some intangibles like coaching, home field advantage, and quality of opponents to date, puts the balance in our favor. You never truly know what players are thinking before the game, but I tend to put a lot of stock in mental attitude the week of preparation. Ole Miss is coming off two blowouts and have just been named #1 on ESPN's power poll. That's not what you want to see going into a huge road game against a top opponent.

But of course, we'll see this weekend.

They're only juniors. Is your concept of time that poor?

Why did you not evaluate the units vs. the opposing unit they'll actually face? Evaluating the OM receivers vs. the Bama receivers is completely meaningless. They won't be on the field at the same time.

If Bama can get to Kelley early and often and rattle him then Bama can win, but if not they lose. Bama needs to give it to Henry early and often and pound the thin D-Line. This won't happen though because Kiffin hates the run and loves the pass.

Thank you for overlooking special teams. God willing, they will not be important in this game. Because if it comes down to kicking...

And both teams Ole Miss played not only had no pulse, they had been graveyard dead for years.

Didn't read the OP user name and thought it was a Bama fan breaking it down until the score prediction.

So y'all have a bad kicker again? Is he a new guy?

How do y'all let this keep happening? I would dish out 100k to the best high school kicker in the country at this point if I were Alabama.

Very true. Engram also missed the backend of his freshman year in 2013.

I'm not a fan of either team, but I thought the OP's analysis was pretty good. Like a poster stated earlier, if the game comes down to ST's, Bama is in real trouble. OM will have to control TOP to have a chance in the game. 3 and out's will spell doom for that Dline and Bama will just pound away. Now if Kiffin get's cute and gets pass happy, will play into OM's favor. I think it will be a close game with Bama winning in the end due to a tired OM defense.
