wish ole miss and les well. but the idea of les as coach of ole miss is pretty bizarre to me. i'm sure les is interested, since he wants to coach again.
what does the black bear nation think about it?

Sounds like some Native American Alliance.
No, I don't think any OM fan wants Les as a coach. He would provide some much needed comic relief but that's about it.

It depends on the situation. If we get multiple year bowl ban, I'd be more than happy to have him. I think kids like playing for him and I think he's a good guy & he is authentic, which is what we haven't had in a long time. If a miracle happens and we only get the 1 year bowl ban, I want us to go after a young coach looking to rise to a challenge. This job is going to be really difficult because it is in the west and our next coach absolutely has to run a clean program. Yes I believe that every SEC school is offering money/benefits to kids and their families, but our next coach will have to know that is not an option. At least for the time being, I am fine selling this job as a stepping stone to a more prestigious job. Tell Frank Wilson or Tee Martin or another young and rising coach that if they have a good year or two at Ole Miss, they will eventually be getting calls for every major vacancy that opens up. It's a tough sell, but someone making less than $2M/year isn't turning down $4M+ unless they have something else in the bag. No wife would allow that.

They should take anybody IMO.

Because of the situation you're in, you're going to need a coach whose brand is bigger than your school. Something you can sell to recruits and their families. A Les Miles would fit that description. Others would too, but he's someone you could get.
If you hire young coach, you're going to have to give him five years at least just to be semi-competitive because he's dealing with no brand and no upside for the recruits in the short-term.
ETA: Come to think of it, that's what Auburn did when they hired Bruce Pearl. We were dead. We had nothing to sell to recruits, really. No heritage, tradition, system, nothing. Bruce at least gave us a bigger brand than Auburn Basketball to sell. And it appears to have worked. We are at least competitive now, and we couldn't say that before.

If they have any sense about themselves they'd jump at the chance to hire a guy like Miles. They are going to need to hit a home run with this hire or they're toast.

I have no problem with it whatsoever.

3 yards and a cloud of dust at VH?

Petrino would be a better fit at OM.

The sanctions will probably scare off a lot of coaches. I believe OM just needs to not hire the wrong guy, weather the storm, hope for the best, then worry about an elite coach. As of yesterday, there are no clear front runner though.

I don't see it happening because I think he can do better if he really wants to get back into coaching. But I'd be happy with it.

I'd have no problems at all as long as he left Longo alone. He is regarded as a really good guy, and let's face it - Ole Miss needs someone like that right now.

1 year Bowl Ban?
No. Need someone energetic and a long-term solution.
2+ year Bowl Ban?
Sure, why the frick not? Program is dead at that point anyway.

Right, coaches looking to move into a good situation would not want to go to a program under NCAA sanctions, likely to include scholarship restrictions.
On the other hand, expectations should not be very high for the new coach under these circumstances.

I'd love having Les Miles here.

It would be interesting if anything you'd see the return of lesticles.
There would be zero pressure. He could fricking go for it on every fourth down and no one would bat an eye.
It's like winning the lottery and still going into work but not giving a frick and seeing how far you could go till they fire your arse
