Ole Miss fans, how do you feel about Chad Kelly?

Do you think he is THE guy to lead you this season? I don't know much about him. He did very well in JUCO, but heard he has some off field issues. Watching SEC Now and it seems like Freeze and Treadwell aren't too excited about him starting this week.

Freeze looked nervous as shite at the idea of AK47 leading the team

Strongest arm of the three. Better runner than Buchanan. Has a high football IQ (beat the other two QB's for the job after only being on campus since January).
In a risk-reward sense, maybe a slightly higher risk since he may try to fit some throws in tight spots but the potential reward is much greater than the other two.
I'm glad he's the starter. Not sure how Freeze and LT gave you the impression that they weren't

I think Kelly has enough weapons around him to make him look good even if he isn't the greatest QB.

Freeze always looks nervous/awkward in front of the camera

I think his off field past is a non-issue unless something happens again, which is unlikely given he knows this is his last chance to impress the NFL brass.
From a football perspective, he is a dual threat QB with decent running ability and a much stronger arm than Dr. Bro Wallace. He also has great weapons to throw to (Engram, Treadwell, Stringfellow).
Some of the players were loyal to the guy who lost out in the QB race (Ryan Buchanan bc he was there longer and is a great guy), but for the most part Treadwell and the others think the offense is better this year than last year.

Wasn't the QB at Jackson Prep, so that is a plus.

I am a little surprised at how bad Kincaide has been. You would think he would transfer to a smaller school.

This. Kelly can play conservatively and let the talent around him, bolstered by a strong D, win games. But he also has the tools (physical and mentally) to win games on his own if needed

My primary concern is the dangerously high level of swag he will bring to the SEC. I heard that Saban is trying to get swag banned.

I think he'll be better than Bo. Definitely stronger arm. He's faster and he picked up the playbook quicker than expected.
But really all he has to do is not have stupid turnovers. Hit a big play now and then and let the defense do its thing.

I haven't seen him play, but I have been told he has a gun for an arm.

No big deal... but you do realize that he was rated as good or better than your QB, Brandon Harris, by the recruiting services coming out of high school don't you?... and he is a couple of years older with a heck of a lot more college playing time, even if JC?
