Just wanted to give a few stats to put in perspective how good Ole Miss' defense was last year.

Defensive Stats:
-Ole Miss led the nation with only 13 points per game average allowed, despite a poor performance against Auburn and Arkansas.
-Ranked 11th in the FBS for Red Zone defense.
-5th in the FBS for passes intercepted.
-12th in the FBS for 3rd down conversions allowed.

But here's where it gets crazy.
-The Ole Miss OFFENSE ranked 118th among FBS teams(last in the SEC) for times going 3 plays & out.
-The Offense ranked 104th in time spent on the field(13th in the SEC)

My point with all of this is to show that despite spending more time on the field than any other team in the SEC, in addition to playing with an offense that was the worst among all conference teams at going 3 plays and punting, the Ole Miss defense was still absolutely dominant. They quite literally carried an Ole Miss team DESPITE a horrendous offense.

Many expect Ole Miss' defense to be even better this year, but all of this should alarm Ole Miss fans because unless the offense can develop a running game and find consistency at quarterback to help the Landsharks out, it won't even matter.

Disproves the notion that HUNH, fast-paced offenses can never field a strong defense that is capable of winning a football game.

We weren't very fast last year. Freeze said today expect to go faster on offense this year

We were taking our sweet, sweet time by the end of the year.

Does this disprove the notion that Freeze is a good offensive mind?

I don't think anyone thinks that anymore.

He is a recruiter.

Not really. Freeze just isn't a good offensive mind. He is a good recruiter and decent manager. He also slowed down the pace to play to their strengths on defense.

I think most Ole Miss fans would tell you he is an amazing CEO type head coach, but he needs to hire a high profile offensive coordinator.

Freeze's offense and offensive scheme are fine. We do not need to hire an OC and I have never once read another poster say that.

We slowed the offense way down last year and our o-line sucked at run blocking.

Hugh's scheme allowed Bo Wallace to have multiple 3000 yard seasons.

Consider that.

It wouldn't hurt a thing to bring in another OC when Werner is done. It's pretty simple...

Why? Freeze isn't giving up playcalling.
