Gonna be really nice. It looks like it is being built into the ground so the floor and lower level are below ground? Is that right?

The inside reminds me of UVA's new arena.

Lower to the ground makes it easier to throw a tarp over it in case the roof leaks.

Yeah, the court and lower level will be below ground.

You can tell in the live construction cam if you click here.

Won't matter how nice it is if they can't keep the power on

What is that, an arena for ants?

It will have to be at least twice that big.

fricking Ole Miss.

It looks like they are doing it on a tight budget.

It's going to be a first class facility. Maybe not the biggest or best but definitely not the worst.

Size is overrated for basketball arenas. Most important is acoustics followed by seating layout. Having acoustics making 1 person as loud as 2 in a different venue is better. Means per seat there are more season ticket holders than in a larger venue sans Kentucky and those guys are second loudest to students compared to casual fan

Simply not true, it's why the big schools have 15K+ seat arena's and small schools like Auburn or Ole Miss have 9K gyms.

Or because we have the worst basketball history in the SEC and our fans care more about baseball than basketball. Why build a 15k arena if you can't even fill half of it?

Exactly what I said, small basketball schools have small gyms. Nothing new there.

Cameron Indoor holds less than this arena will. So you saying Duke is a small basketball school?

If Duke could build a 15K+ seat arena, they would. But obviously they can't. Zero relevance.

I don't think money is an issue. They just don't want to.

Actually it's quite relevant because it disproves your theory that only "small basketball schools" have seats with less than 15k.

It's not because of money.

How so? You picked a school with an historical venue that cannot be upgraded and will not be upgraded. It has absolutely zero relevance. If it could have negative relevance, it would. Move on.
