Ole Miss and State's Staying Power

I don't think anyone questions the talent and skill of Ole Miss and State's starting 22. They've more than proven themselves over the past weeks, but neither team has recruited lights out in the past few years. Most teams that win it all tend to be deep at almost every position.
Do they have the depth or "staying power" to last through the remainder of their schedules? Or are they one or two injuries away from a catastrophic nosedive?

Ole Miss does
They fell off last with year recruiting, but they are going to get some solid players in this years recruiting class.
In the end game, Ole Miss has the best chance to sit with Alabama, LSU and Auburn in the west.

We have recruited very well and are continuing to do so. I do not expect a big drop off and think we are set up to be competitive in the West for years to come. We might not be contending for the national championship every year, but will be in the position to compete in every game and win when everything falls into place. As you all know, winning championships has a lot of luck involved, and you just have to put your team in the position to take advantage of it when the time comes. In the past, we were never strong enough to put ourselves in that position outside a decent year here and there. You have to be decent every year to give your team a chance to win it all. I see us evolving into a similar program status to Auburn/LSU, they are good enough to win 9 to 10 games a year, and when the ball bounces the right way, they can make a run for it.

Both are playing lots of players on both sides of the ball.

Both schools are stepping stone programs and both coaches will be gone within two/three years,tops. Then in another 50 years, maybe they'll be competive again. *hate hate hate hate*

Sounds like most of the replies are either misunderstanding or ignoring the question, as it asks about surviving the remainder of the season. My answer would be it depends on what position you are talking about. If you look at the SEC teams that have gone on to compete in the BCSCG the last few years, not sure any could have withstood losing their starting QB, with the exception of LSU a couple of years ago. They would have probably been better off if they had. I think both State and Ole Miss will be fine the rest of the way if they were to lose one or two of their first 22 players, with the exception of the QB position. While Ole Miss has the defense to overcome losing Wallace for the most part, at some point they are going to be in a position where he will determine the outcome of a game or two, so I think they need him healthy.

I mean, we had a top 15 class. We will never be top 10 every year but 2016 could be our best class ever.

How do you know we haven't recruited well. What did you think 3 or 4 years ago?

Most teams that have won the national championship have at least one top three recruiting class in the previous three years. Not sure, but I don't think either Ole Miss or Miss State have one. I could be wrong.
You guys are good. I just wonder if the wear and tear doesn't start to affect Ole Miss and State as the year goes on -- more so than a team that has a bit more of a talent cushion. Whether that translates to wins and losses, I'm not sure. This is a unique situation.

I don't need to know your coach. I know your schools history. Ole Miss is not going to turn into a national powerhouse all of the sudden. It's too late in the game. Your program lacks the funds and the resources to accomplish this. The season you're having now is all you can hope for. Maybe it will happen again in your life, maybe it won't. If you think a powerhouse program won't steal him then you're insane. Sorry, but ya'll are living on borrowed time. Same goes for State.
