I was reminiscing in the thread about auburn, florida, and Lsu. Holy shite is it really possible to lose to Arkansas and Kentucky in a season and win a championship

That's the way Les planned it. Lose to Kentucky and an unranked Arkansas at home. Doing so will get us in the NC game.

Thanks Les.

UGA lost to South Carolina and Tennessee but beat a Meyer coached Florida and a Saban coached bama and finished #2 behind lsu that year.

Still the most entertaining college football season I can ever remember. Missouri, Kansas, USF were all relevant.

To be fair LSU did not lose a single game in the regular season or post season.

Only two losses were both triple OT's with the first a revenge for the Bluegrass Miracle and the second was for Das Boot.

irrelevant, just as LSU's program is currently.

Kentucky was actually good that year. The loss to Arkansas at home was inexcusable. Took a series of miracles for us to get back into the title game.

Les losing 4 games with those stacked 06 and 07 teams is an embarrassment. And there could have easily been more losses. 06 Tennessee, 06 Ole Miss, 07 Auburn, 07 Florida etc . Went down to the wire with a horrible 07 Bama team

My favorite comeback on a 2-loss BCS champion: "LSU was unbeaten in regulation."

To be fair, I don't see why LSU fans need to have a comeback. LSU was the National Champion and SEC champion. That should have been the end of the discussion.

And yet some of their posters said in that thread their 2007 team would beat 2004 Auburn and rationalized it because in 2004 Auburn only beat LSU by 1

To this day, still the dumbest argument that ever gained steam. Overtime is not a mythical time vortex that negates defeats or adds value to those said losses. You lose a game in OT, you lost the game. To give credit for tying two vastly inferior teams in regulation is a classic Les Miles move. And it somehow worked.

Having Richt playing nice guy and not lobbying for us to be in the title game, the exact opposite thing Saban did in 2011, I'm sure was another factor. I Remember '07, we didn't win our division so how could we possibly be in the title game? Guess no one got the memo when Saban didn't win his division in 2011 and told everyone to eat shite. God it's great not having a pussy for a head coach anymore.

Yeah, that was an improbable season.LSU was the clear number two after the SEC Championship, largely on the fact that they waxed Va Tech 49-7(3rd in final poll) and both losses were in triple overtime. They earned it in a year where everybody had losses. And then they waxed the clear number one (Ohio State). And more than a decade later, people like you are still melting.

2007 Kentucky was Andre Woodsen's senior year and ranked 17 going into that LSU game. Played the Gators close that year and took Tenner to 4 OT's. Beat Free Shoes U in their bowl game.

Hogs finished 3rd in the west and probably give Mizzou a bowl game if Nutt coaches instead of Reggie.
