While the camp was "hosted" by FAU, the actual activities were run by the buckeye coaches through a loophole, who are expecting some big name Florida guys to commit to them.

quote:

Meyer and NFL Hall of Famer Cris Carter, who is an Ohio State alum, gave speeches to the players. Meyer spoke about players being “the solution” on their respective teams, and Carter spoke about his love for football.

Satellite camps have been at the center of a college football controversy recently. Conferences like the Big 12 and the Big Ten allow their coaches to serve as a guest coach at a camp on another school’s campus. But the Southeastern Conference and the Atlantic Coast Conference prevent their coaches from doing the same.

“It’s great for high school players,” Oxbridge Academy coach Doug Socha said earlier this month. “The cost to go to these camps is so significantly less than a family making a commitment to visit a school up north. I think it’s a good thing.”

“If you can get in one location and get in front of a lot of coaches, there’s huge value to that.”

Good for them.

But I can't wait for the epic shitfit that will occur when Saban shows up in Ohio or Miles in Michigan.

Meh. I'd prefer Saban just stick to the South.

You might not, but Dantonio has thrown shade repeatedly at Stoops and Marrow for dipping into Ohio. I can't see the rest of the B1G keeping their mouth shut when their little loophole gets exposed by everyone else.

Why would they bother? Talent's way better here; why else do you think they're so desperate to find loopholes to slip some of these kids some good ol' Northern incentive.

You will. Miles has poached 4* and 5* players like Joseph Barksdale, Spencer Ware, Christian LaCouture, Ethan Pocic and Clifton Garrett from Big 10 country WITHOUT satellite camps. He does pretty well in talent-rich states like Texas and Florida. How many great players has Michigan lured away from the SEC?

State Governments should pass a law TAXING THE frick out of out-of-state college camps. Make it $500,000,000.00 for each camp. Arrest the people putting on the camp and hold them until the tax is paid.

Easy fix.

An Ohio kid that wants to play for Ohio State isn't going to be swayed. Same with the southern players. Ohio State gets plenty of top talent from the south already. This just saves those kids some travel money.

Meyer had a women's football camp up in Columbus a few days ago and repeatedly spoke about the SEC. We are no 1 competition, and they are doing anything they can.

Lol they wouldn't go to those shitty states for talent. Saban would come to Louisiana and Miles would go to Florida/Texas

and yes..the melt would be epic

You are probably the coolest poster on this board. Your usage of the latest street slang sets you apart from the rest of us and lets others know that you are probably a very popular person in real life.

I bet you aren't the kind of person that throws shade at anyone. Hopefully I can be your friend, on the board, and I can learn some more ultra modern slang.

Do you remember when Saban was first hired, before he coached a game at Alabama, LSU fans on message boards far and wide were howling like swamp rats that Saban would be locked out of Louisiana.

A running theme among their ignorant fan-base was that, without being able to recruit Louisiana, Saban would be a gigantic flop at Bama. Alabama just wouldn't be able to get players like he needed, like he was used to at LSU.

I remember thinking how amazingly stupid all of them seemed at the time. They actually believed that Alabama's prior successes in football had somehow been related to players from the state of Louisiana.

What none of them knew, because they are LSU fans, is that Alabama only had seven (7) players EVER from the state of Louisiana on it's teams since 1892. In the whole history of it's very successful football program, Alabama had only ever had but seven players from that state before Saban's arrival.

For some reason, I still feel that the general consensus among LSU fans is that Alabama is now and always has been reliant on talent from Louisiana. It is weird.

Yep. This is just the beginning with these things. The Pac-12 will soon be setting up shop in the South as well. Georgia, Florida, Louisiana, Texas.

Principally, yes who gives a shite just dish it back to them. But realistically it benefits the B1G way more than it would for the SEC to do it vice versa. There is talent up North, sure, but the South doesn't need to supplement. Other regions do. Meyer has said so himself on several occasions.
