I'm glad you put that about the Cotton(1937-95,2015-present). I wish I'd bookmarked it, but about a year or so ago I had all these Arkansas goobers calling me a dumbarse and saying I didn't know what the hell I was talking about by saying the Cotton wasn't a major bowl from 1996-2014. There was an article I posted in the Dallas Morning News in which the Cotton Bowl Committee even said this, but they still wouldn't believe it.

We have 17 appearances in major bowls by your criteria and only 4 wins. Damn that's terrible.
4-13 overall with 9 of those losses coming by a touchdown or less.

Yeah it was no longer tied to the SWC after the 94 season and was replaced with the Fiesta in the Bowl Alliance for the 95 season.

This seems kind of arbitrary. Mizzou finished #4 in 2007 and #5 in 2013 while playing in the cotton bowl.

The Cotton wasn't part of the BCS. Y'all got stuck playing in it in 08 and 14 because of the stupid rule of allowing no more than 2 teams per conference in BCS bowls.
Tennessee finished #3/#2 in 95 but that doesn't mean the Citrus was a major bowl.

Cotton bowl wasn't a major bowl until recently. Good try though

FAIL.
Cotton was one of the Big 4 on New Years Day before being excluded from the BCS.
Rose, Sugar, Orange, Cotton

You must be kidding. It was the centerpiece bowl for a major television network (CBS), Lindsey Nelson was a New Year's Day tradition.
CBS used to be focused on the Cotton Bowl (when ppl think Cotton Bowl, they think Longhorns), the Dallas Cowboys and the TV show, "Dallas." Major ratings winners.

That second one is incorrect, the 1973 Cotton Bowl was the Texas Longhorns beating the Crimson Tide. Alan Lowry "supposedly" stepped out of bounds on the winning touchdown run for TEXAS.

He's a South Carolina fan, so probably around 2010 or 2011.

You're a South Carolina fan who probably isn't any older than 20 so let me learn you on this subject.
The Cotton Bowl was the destination of the Southwest Conference champion for many years. The SWC was among the best conferences in college football until it collapsed in 1994-95 and merged with the Big 8 to form the Big 12.

NY6 Bowl wins shouldn't count unless it's a playoff game

So Bama won twice as many major bowls this past season as MSU has ever?
But they were ranked #1 in the nation after feasting on cupcakes....then they played the big boys of the West and learned what they really were.
