FSU just unveiled their 2015 "State Champion" rings for a "3-0 record against teams in the State of Florida" (UF, Miami, and USF).

So, is this a stupid excuse to find something to be excited about?

Kind of cool (especially for states with multiple Power 5 teams)?

Florida fans, how do you feel about it? Something you'd like to see UF duplicate?

Aggies, any thoughts given the state of Texas being ridiculously full of teams?

Aubies and Gumps?

I don't like it. I think once you reach a certain status as a program anything like this somewhat down plays that stature. Seems like something a non-blue blood program like a TCU would do

In this case, Lame.

I get having a trophy for an instate rivalry, that's fine.

Rings though, that's like participation award level shite right there.

I thought this thread was going to be about state high school championships, and those rings are fine, those kids deserve them if their school can afford them.

what makes it worse is part of the reason they have their "championship" is for beating a directional school

I think its cool if you have two great rivals in a divided sate. Like UF,FSU(Miami used to be apart of this). Egg/Iron bowl. Clemson/USCe...ect.. When you have to live with your rivals in the same state, its bragging rights, and rings add to the show. I'm cool with it.

For a small school they'd be cool but for a big school (like FSU) they're pretty lame.

Would not be lame some years. Was lame last year especially since they didn't win their bowl game.

Aren't rings a way to pay your players under the table, while doing it above the table?

I don't think we've ever had "state Championship" rings in football. How are we the poster child for them?

I don't get the hate for rings of any kind. The school isn't hanging a banner in their stadium or anything.

Players and coaches get these rings, to do with as they please. The accomplishments may be silly, but if a player wants the ring - why not? And if they don't want it- they can sell it. It's not like FSU is adding "2016 state champs" to their official record books.
