What a week! Tennessee loses a heart-breaker in College Station. War Eagle took it to Cowbell Nation. LSU haz dat mad-on at Florida, or at least their AD. And hopefully, everyone has survived the wrath of Matthew and is safe.

This week's ranking has some VERY close positions, with some teams being separated by as little as .04 in the mean ranks. Lots of parity around the league, and the middle is still very unsettled.

Thanks as always to the voters for their time and honest, thoughtful rankings. Our ranking this week unfortunately doesn't include the beloved graph - LewDawg produces that, and he is in the middle of major hurricane cleanup. But, regardless...Here. We. Go!

This is the raw data graph and legend, before Lew makes it pretty... sorry for the quality, but it may give you some more of the info y'all are looking for.

Just one point. Tennessee did dominate A&Ms defense. But A&M averaged more yards per play in that game than UT did. And helped force 7 turnovers.

I say A&Ms D had the better day than UTs D.

And Tennessee didn't dominate our defense all day, just in the 4th quarter and even that didn't end well for them with our defense getting the last laugh.

It doesn't make a whole lot of sense that LSU moves up without playing a game and Florida moves down without playing a game.

See forcing turnovers isn't really the defense doing anything. Unless you punch the ball out at the two yard line of a RB who broke away. Then it is totally good defense.

I think we should be ahead of Tennessee the only difference between us and them is we missed our hail Mary vs Clemson and they got theirs vs UGA. They also had tough games vs Ohio & App State. Auburn beat the hell out of our money game teams. We've beat Tennessee 6 straight games FWIW

Sure.
1. Alabama - Alabama walked into Fayetteville and came away with a 19 point win. The defense scored twice and the offense racked up 517 yards. A couple concussions aside, the Crimson Tide should roll into Knoxville at full strength in their bid for a 10th straight victory over Tennessee.

2. Texas A&M - Once again the Texas Aggies took a commanding lead (21 points) late in a game and once again Tennessee did their Corso impression and said "Not so fast my friend". Boneheaded mistakes plagued both teams. The Aggies 12th man walk on Gillaspia played with a passion that inspired the team and carried them forward dispite an epic performance by Tennessee's Kamara that would have made Davy Crockett proud.

3. Tennessee - The Vols lost a heartbreaker @ #8 A&M but they showed more about their grit and determination than in any previous game. 7 turnovers doomed them but they dominated A&M's defense all day. If the Vols can get healthy and cut down on the mistakes, they could be extremely dangerous down the road.

4. Ole Miss - BYE week. Swag showed a lot of passion on the field, advanced quickly, but ultimately was held back for no gain.

5. Auburn - It was sad but necessary to give the once majestic GrindFest the Ol' Yeller treatment. Auburn so thoroughly dominated this game, they could have put the finals nails in the second SEC coach's coffin this year. Expect Auburn to take full advantage of the coming bye week by ensuring "proper maintenance" on elevators to the opponents coaching box

6. Arkansas - The Hog D is complete trash, as is the O-line. QB, WR, and TE are bright spots. Allen threw for over 400 yards but only completed roughly 52% of his passes, but he was taking an absolute beating. Overall we don't seem to much better than we were at the beginning of the season, which is completely opposite of what Bret is known for.

7. LSU - Foley 1 SEC 0. Can't even be mad at the guy...he just outplayed everyone. So off the unexpected bye week, the Tigers prepare for the Golden Eagles. If the players are as restless as the fans, this one could get ugly.

8. Florida - Florida received an unexpected bye week this week and at least we will heal up. I know people differ in opinion on why or what transpired for the game to ultimately be postponed, but regardless, Florida did not play a game and we will see what they do with Mizzou this week with Del Rio returning and hopefully some of the defensive line returning.

9. Georgia - Eason struggled mightily but he wasn't really needed to do much. The OL continues to improve, the running game was dominant, and the defense didn't allow to SC to do much of anything. Boring but solid overall win.

10. Missouri - Missouri is coming off a bye week, however, I think LSU just scored on us again, let me go check.

11. Mississippi State - We looked like a team that has given up during the first half and most of the same in the second half. Fans aren't happy with the product on the field, and most of the blame should fall on Mullen. At this point we have 1-2 wins left on our schedule, and if that holds true Mullen's seat will be getting very warm.

12. Kentucky - Kentucky did just enough to beat Vandy at home, barely. A win is a win, but it didn't provide any confidence that UK is getting better. Bye week, then MSU at home. Another must win to keep bowl eligibility in view. Running game is getting stronger, passing game is awful. Hopefully Barker is back for MSU.

13. South Carolina - Defense continues to impress and has made a drastic turn around from the past two years. Offense continues to struggle to do basic things for several reasons but the poor offensive line play is the most glaring. I'd like to see us switch things up and use both QBs instead of trying to make one a clear cut starter when it's clear neither are capable of being one

14. Vanderbilt - It was the battle for the bottom of the barrel, and Vandy "won." Between inconsistent play on defense, an injury to Ralph Webb, and a perplexing inability to live up to the talent on this team, Vandy fans are looking to the administration to find a solution. What did they come up with? A proposal to prevent the Spirit of Gold band from playing at Vandy's Homecoming. Sigh. At least it’ll be over in two months.

I understand your point. The two were extremely close. Hopefully you'll make up the game and it'll be settled.
