Who is the best offensive line in the league? The stats don't really give a clear picture. Are offensive lines less talented in the SEC this year or are defensive lines that much better than average?

Interesting stats, what do they mean? Kentucky is a surprisingly good run blocking team and a porous pass block team. Missouri the opposite. Texas A&M appears to be the most balanced all around.

This is the percentage of carries in which the offensive line "does its job" and produces at least five yards of rushing for the runner. (Generally speaking, the first five yards are considered the line's responsibility, the next five are split evenly between the runner and the line, and anything over 10 yards is all on the runner.)

Passing Downs
Second-and-8 or more, third-and-5 or more, or fourth-and-5 or more. These are downs in which passing is easily the most likely option for gaining the necessary yardage, and defenses hold the upper hand. Offenses typically throw about two-thirds of the time on passing downs.

They have been good so far. That was my biggest worry going into the season.

And A&M has done it vs UCLA, Auburn, and Arkansas. Not a who's who of DL, but not too shabby either.

Vols a lot higher than I thought

Thanks F1orida for being a stat padding game for our OL

I truly believe that 3 of GA's offensive line would not start for Ga Southern.
I'm not kidding.

This I can believe based on

Breaking it down further, however, how do you count pass plays?
vs. UCLA, 4/8 (50%)
3rd and 1 - Knight 3 run FIRST DOWN
3rd and 1 - Ford 5 run FIRST DOWN
3rd and 1 - Ford 0 run
3rd and 1 - Williams 3 run FIRST DOWN
1st and Goal (2) - Williams 1 run
2nd and Goal (1) - Williams 0 run
3rd and Goal (1) - Knight 0 run
4th and Goal (1) - Knight TOUCHDOWN
vs. Prairie View - 4/6 67% (5/6 if you count the TD pass)
2nd and Goal (2) - Pass, loss of 2
2nd and 2 - Williams 2 run FIRST DOWN
2nd and 2 - TOUCHDOWN PASS (does this not count?)
3rd and 1 - Williams 3 run FIRST DOWN
2nd and 1 - Williams 4 run FIRST DOWN
4th and 1 - Knight 3 run FIRST DOWN
at Auburn - 2/7 (28.6%)
2nd and 2 - Ford 1 run, fumble + recovery
3rd and 1 - Incomplete pass
3rd and 1 - Knight 1 run FIRST DOWN
2nd and 1 - Penalty FIRST DOWN
1st and Goal (2) - Williams 0 run
2nd and Goal (2) - Ford 0 run
3rd and Goal (2) - FALSE START
vs. Arkansas - 4/6 (66.7%)
3rd and 2 - Ford 2 run FIRST DOWN
3rd and 1 - Knight 42 run TOUCHDOWN
2nd and 3 - Williams 15 run FIRST DOWN
1st and Goal (2) - Fumble turnover
2nd and 2 - Incomplete pass
3rd and 2 - Williams 3 run FIRST DOWN
15/27 = 55.6%, although the two goal line stalls, one of which resulted in a touchdown, the other a field goal, skew those numbers. Take those 1/7 stats away and you get 14/20, which looks better at 70%.

Our line is lacking in experience but they're getting it the hard way. We've played three very damn athletic front sevens so far, including the best there is. I feel like our stats will improve a lot as the year progresses.

You gotta take competition into account. Auburn for instance hasn't had great OL production...but it was against Clemson, LSU and a revamped, nasty TAMU D.
Auburn has enough talent to be very productive...although not quite as much talent as the last few years...our problems have been the level of competition, and blocking schemes that border on bizarre. Pulling RG to come all the way across to block Myles Garrett. "It's ok...you'll be faster than him next time. Let's do it again...dang it. Well, let's give it one more go"...and not giving Pettway a lead blocker running up the middle from the 1. Just a few examples. I suspect we'll climb up these rankings with some lesser opponents like Arkansas.

Mizzou is #1 nationally in sacks given up (one in four games) and TFL given up (seven in four games). We have a lot of young OL that need to get stronger, but they're real good.

These stats are opponent adjusted, so competition has already been factored out
