What would the opinion, speculation, thought be today of the oaks at Toomer's Corner by Auburn fans? Obviously they would've died. Would Auburn fans have suspected foul play without his dumbass phone call?

Actually a interesting question. Of course we would have eventually blamed Alabama once we knew they had been poisoned.

Could have caused Armageddon

Oh entirely agree. He was going to tell everyone regardless of if it was on the radio or not. But for the sake of saying he didn't, and it stayed a secret, what would be the opinions today about that whole thing?

Re-reading this question it reminds me how big a fricking dumbass he is for calling a popular radio show to tell them about it and to let them know he did it.

I think he was wanting the recognition for doing it anyway and hoping that the Alabama fan base congratulated him for doing it.

He did get what he wanted. He is pretty much a famous member of the Alabama fan club for life

even more bickering between the two fanbases, because we'd know it was a bama fan, they'd rightfully deny it, and instead of bitching at each other about meaningful things like who has the trashiest car decked out in team gear, we'd be in the endless loop of, "you killed our trees." "Prove it."

ETA. Also there'd still be people out there thinking that auburn fans rolled the trees when bear died.

It would have been another "Dey rolled dem trees when Bear died" deals

It would still be awesome....

That "tradition" is an embarrassment the south, the SEC, and all of humankind.

Good points. And then there would be the Alabama fans thinking an Auburn fan poisoned the (already dying?) trees, after the massive upset Cam Newton game to make it look like an Alabama fan. Hadn't thought about it but I kind of agree, Harvey calling Finebaum did a large amount toward de-escalating the situation. After having already did what he did, of course.
