Nike's 10-day window to match adidas' offer ended Tuesday. Nike matched it and kept Beckham aboard with a five-year deal thought to be worth more than $29 million.

Looks like humping the practice net and all of his other shenanigans paid off! Good for him!

Seems low when you compare it to what basketball players get, but I guess its rich compared to what baseball players get.

I think the reason is two-fold. Firstly, that NBA players and their faces are more recognizable. Secondly, and perhaps more importantly, basketball is much more popular globally than is football.

Maybe, but Under Armour has been going all out these last couple years bringing in names. You've got to imagine they are ponying up the dough to do it.

Tom Brady, Cam Newton, Julio Jones, Steph Curry, Jordan Spieth, Michael Phelps, The Rock, Bryce Harper, Clayton Kershaw. They've been trying to get THE names in every sport

They are definitely trailing Nike and Adidas, but they are making a push to try and catch up. And they are paying a premium for these people to come on board.

OBJ brings a lot of awareness to otherwise ignored charities and different causes with his pregame customized cleats. Usually it gives them a bump in donations for that week.

Well, for basketball players you get 82+ games worth of branding. For Football players you get 16+. Also, an athlete buys cleats usually once per year, but buys basketball shoes typically 1-2 times per year at a higher expense than the cleats.

Financially, I can understand the discrepancy.

Is he signing with Big Baller, because they can sign him for bazillions of dollars, but they won't have it to pay out.
