Saying it isn't about money, just clear Nutt's name. If I were Freeze, I would be drafting that apology letter.

Maybe Nutt was that bored and narcissistic. So basically he wants his attorneys fees and apology and just wanted to embarrass Ole Miss.

The settlement proposal we presented to Ole Miss earlier today is focused on the apology Houston Nutt has consistently asked for and fully deserves.*After all, there's no longer any doubt about what happened here.
More than a few unbiased sports reporters have talked openly on the radio and on podcasts in recent weeks about how Hugh Freeze "lied" to the press in order to falsely portray Houston Nutt as the primary*target of the NCAA's investigation. What's more, other journalists have come out of the woodwork since the lawsuit was filed to share with us their personal recollections of how they too were duped by Coach Freeze.*So purely from a moral standpoint, if for no other reason, Ole Miss owes Houston an apology.
Contrary to what some people have suggested about Coach Nutt's motives, the settlement proposal we submitted today isn't designed to put money in Houston's bank account. This lawsuit was never about money. Beginning many months ago and continuing until today, Houston's issues with Ole Miss have been about honor, the preservation of his well-earned good name and reputation for integrity, and accountability.
With that in mind, what we proposed earlier today creates an opportunity for Ole Miss to do something positive for student athletes all across Mississippi, for Ole Miss to have a leadership role in that effort, and to "do the right thing" by Coach Nutt.
Given the alternatives at hand, it's difficult to imagine a more selfless and virtuous way for Houston to clear his name while giving Ole Miss an easy and painless exit from this unpleasant litigation.
We expect Ole Miss to be very pleased with our proposal and look forward to hearing from the University's lawyers.

No way Ole Miss can mess this up, is there?

Nutt's lawyer is probably trolling OM
Whatever Nutt's lawyer proposed is probably something OM or Freeze will not admit to or do. So OM looks bad and Nutt looks like the good guy with a peace offering

There is a reason he's keeping it in the media, and it's not because he has a case with merit.

Remains to be seen. Ole Miss wants the contract to mean that a small number of people could not disparage Nutt for a limited time while employed by Ole Miss and he was fair game by everyone who worked at Ole Miss then or thereafter. They may be right, but it doesn't sound all that great a position. Sounds very strange for an anti-disparagement clause to have virtually no real meaning.
Ole Miss should have never run the risk that they did of getting sued, when it could have been easily avoided with some skillful wording when the initial comments were made or thereafter. As Kellenberger said a couple of weeks ago, Ole Miss has no one but themselves for this situation.

Going to be epic when OM apologizes to Nutt publicly and then he releases more evidence that will sink OM

The money was always secondary for Nutt. Though I am sure he wouldn't mind a bit more in his bank account. No, he wanted to see Ole Miss burn.
He started an inferno and can now sit back and cheerfully watch. Forcing Ole Miss to publicly apologize to him for burning them to the ground is just the blow job to finish the day.

Yeah, because Ole Miss has just been a beacon of honesty and integrity as of late...
I think it's fair to say what other people say about OM is more credible than what OM says about themselves at this point.

Half way through that bag of dicks Ole Miss. This will all be over as soon as those sanctions come.

Freeze would still be Coach if they had apologized several months ago.

The Black Bears have already said they will not apologize as they did nothing wrong & Nutt's suit has no legal merit. No way they apologize now or later. This will get settled, with money. Neither side wants to go through legal depositions & discovery has already opened a can of worms just on HF's phone records. Can you imagine HF being deposed about that/those calls?
