For the 2014 season... I'm talking just the pure talent level of the 85 man roster -- not scheme, coaching, experience, etc.:

1. Alabama
2. LSU
3. Auburn
4. Ole Miss
5. A&M
6. MSU
7. Arkansas

The 4/5 spot was difficult... really felt like A&M could be there, but losing three first rounders on offense and a bad defense move them down. Ole Miss has some talent in its front seven and at safety. Also a nice group of playmakers at WR (granted, so does A&M).

I think Arkansas and MSU are very close talent wise, but Dak and Arkansas's poor back seven give MSU the edge. Arkansas is stockpiling talented linemen, though... and has one of the best RB duo's in the country.

No question, alabama has most talented overall roster but just lacks the experience and questions at QB. LSU and Auburn are close in overall talent, but LSU has more talented depth, especially on defense.

I think your list is correct, but LSU is more comparable in talent to the Gumps than it is to the Barners.

Pretty accurate IMO. Alabama is definitely the most talented. Going to be another good game in Tiger Stadium.

No doubt, it is Bama, LSU then everybody else. Talent wise these two teams have a huge gap over everybody else

No argument here. The 3-5 spots are the only debateable areas. AU/OM/A&M are so close in NFL talent, its anyone's guess. AU has the advantage in scheme and talent combined and would be favored over either on a neutral field so your list is a good one IMO.

like I said above, it's certainly debatable and could go either way.

FWIW, Ole Miss and A&M have played two extremely close football games the last two years, though both were in Oxford... and that's with a heisman winner and a OL full of first rounders.

Auburn and A&M aren't as far behind LSU as some of you are saying, but I do agree that we are in the number 2 spot.

LSU
Auburn

I would put auburn at #2 easily. Those guys have a hella recruiting streak. I bet everyone is using the lose of Evans as the reason for their lower ranking. But there is some real big time talent across the board on that team.
