Why have they not just sucked it up and officially joined the ACC already?! It's 2015, there's a playoff system, and these guys are still trying to be in contention for a CFB national title without having a conference championship game. And yeah, I'm aware that the ACC is pretty weak, but I would still give ND more credit for being apart of an actual conference and playing by the same game rules every other team is than still trying to be the lone wolf of college football and getting into the championship game.

Why should they when they can play 6 acc games a year and still have their traditional rivals and be treated special. They have no incentive to join a conference full time.

They have been independent for how long? I would be more concerned if I were a Big 12 team. You already know how committee feels about them not having a championship.

It will continue to hurt them in the future. If they have one loss I see no way for them to make it in over a one loss team that actually won a conference championship game.

Being a conference champion is a major bonus in the CFP consideration.
If they finish #5 in the rankings a few times, they will probably join a conference.

if they go 11-1 and get left out of the CFB playoff then they have just lost a ton. Dontcha think?

A conference championship shouldnt hurt them most years even with a loss because they play a good schedule with big names that usually are good.

Yeah, they need to get their act together with the conference championship thing, too. It just makes sense to have a conference championship game.
