Katy HS(or ISD) just broke ground on a 61 M football stadium.
LINK
Design plans show the new stadium situated on a 58-acre tract north of Rhodes.
Two-story press box
Several training room
Jumbotron
Field house that is drawn to occupy 12,000 square feet of the complex.
The second floor will remain empty for future expansion and will include space for a high school football hall of fame.
And this comes after a few others have been built over the last few years.
Allen's
Cy Fair's

I'm glad the Texas public school systems have their priorities straight.
Will they have statues and shrines for the 16 yr old heroes/gods of the past?

Well we all know the pinnacle of entertainment and excitement in Texas is watching high school football.

Same can be said at every level. Why are institutions of higher learning building 500 M stadiums?
Why do we care more about the NFL draft this weekend then say our immigration issues coming to a head in Cali?

I've traveled a bunch through Texas. The HS stadiums are impressive even in small towns.

Are these guys sending kids to A&M or just living off of our tax $$$ and waiting for a Saban or Miles hand-out?

Is Allen the one that had to be shut down right after opening?

That's pretty neat .... they'll be able to use that place for city functions, to draw HS bowl games there, plus for outdoor concerts and things I assume?
We've got a few like that here in SC. The one they just finished a couple of years ago at Riverbluff is definitely nicer than most NAIA and DII stadiums.

Yes. The construction job was horrible. It had cracks and was unsafe before it ever opened.
What happened to that contractor, btw?

Something tells me you already know the answer to this.

PBK was in charge of the stadium’s structural engineering. Boggio said his company hadn’t had “a single issue of this magnitude” since it was founded in 1981.
“The absolute truth is we had two engineers on our staff that made errors. … It just so happens that those errors slipped through many different cracks and made it through some quality-control procedures that we have in our office, and those procedures were breached,” Boggio said. “We’ve since plugged those holes.”
The engineers no longer work for PBK, and the firm has since gone back to check its work on other projects, Boggio said.
It’s unclear how Pogue Construction and PBK will share liability. Company officials said they will determine that on their own without going to court.

TX HS facilities are incredible.
The one in Beaumont off I-10 says "Educational Support Center" but it sure looks like a football stadium.

And I don't know why we're building this with a perfectly good stadium right next to it. It's a waste of tax payer money.

Congratulations on your tax dollars being wasted.
