but do you think an SEC team would've only fallen 4 spots in the Top 10 (from #2) if they lost to an unranked team?

Ohio State did.

If it was Bama yes. It's called recent history. Winning a lot tends to have some merit in the polls.

not sure it will matter when the new BCS type poll comes out. I think TAMU should be ahead of OSu at this point.

Hasn't always been like that. There was a time when Bama, even ranked highly, would be dropped completely out of the rankings after a loss.

Really? Unless I'm mistaken, Alabama's last loss to an unranked team was 2007 vs Auburn.

LSU lost to a ranked team first game of the year and took a fricking plunge.

LSU was 0-1 when they lost to Wisc. OSU has wins against Wisc and Ok.

I don't think you grasped what I was saying. The polls look at your recent history. Alabama like OSU has been consistently winning for the last 10 years they are not going to penalize you as much for a loss even a upset by a unranked team. LSU has been underachieving for the last 5 years and they dropped us over 15 spots after the Wisconsin loss.

They shouldn't be ahead of undefeated teams from Power 5 conf's, or teams like aTm with one loss to the #1 team on the road.

There were still a lot of undefeated teams back then. There aren't many options to rank ahead of OSU.

Neb - 7-0
BU - 6-0
WVU - 6-0
aTm - 6-1

I'm not championing for OSU, it's just my two cents on how these media types that vote think. I do think they are better than those undefeated teams you listed though.

We would have fallen to 5

But what does it matter. If Ohio State wins out they are in the playoffs without a question. It will all fall in place

If it doesn't matter they should be placed at #11 where they belong.

Having to play consecutive weeks on the road at night and in the second largest stadium with fans so possessed they support child rapists and everything going wrong that could have gone wrong.

Bad loss but far from the worst I have seen. They are still a better team than teams 7-11 at least I feel that way

In the new age of the playoffs you get to look ahead more than in the BCS era. One loss in a power 4 conference to a power 4 conference team (Big 12 is outside looking in) does not hurt you as much.

... was a time when loosing (t'town'bad loosers) only got you a do over.

There's sold souls written all over that fricking injustice... LSU and the rest of the nation got robbed that day.

Are you kidding me? I hope that you are joking. Your team has been one to benefit the most from the manipulative form of placing teams called preseason and season rankings. Do you even really know who is in control of these rankings. What do you think the real purpose of the ranking system is and remember there are many teams who would not even be ranked if they went undefeated 10 years in a row. Just be happy that your team is the benefactor of this entertainment league at the moment.
