This is a troll free post. With the emergence of Fitzpatrick and Humphrey has Tony Brown been lost among the CB's? Not to mention you guys have Kendell Sheffield buying time as well. This is an honest no troll post, I just thought about him when I saw the "Ten things you missed on Fitzpatricks Pick 6" video.

He's with the 2s, Sheffield is redshirting. With Cyrus being a Senior next year Tony Brown will either take his spot, play Star while Minkah takes Cyrus' spot, or play Money. If Eddie Jackson goes pro he MIGHT move to Safety, but you never know.

Marlon (who I have always said would be the better of the two) passed him because he put on bulk, learned the playbook, TB was banged up a little, and TB still plays too emotional. If he can play with less emotion and move on when things go bad he'll be a good player next year, IMO.

Interestingly enough, if TB and Sheff both have a role when we go to Dime (or if TB moves to Safety and Sheff has a role when we play Nickel) then we'll field four 5 star DBs at once next season in some packages.

He has the ability to compete for the starting spot every day, he has just been beaten out by two other 5 stars everyday at this point. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see him take the same path as Eddie Jackson and end up at safety. From what I've seen of Tony he is fast and physical but just a little too stiff in the hips to play nickel and not as good as Humphrey who mans the outside spot. He loafed on the punt return last week and probably took a lot of heat in he film room for it. Saban will tolerate a lot of shite but lack of effort isn't one of them

That said he's just a true sophomore, so we aren't ready to say he's been lost in the shuffle.

We have serious talent at CB. I'm sure it's hard to crack the lineup but we're basically using 5 CB's in dime which we run a lot so there will be time for him. But, I think he got in Saban's dog house for a little while, so...

I honestly always though this as well. Even when Brown looked like a LSU slam dunk and Humphrey was toying with FSU and Bama.

Thanks for the info.

Eddie is not going pro Let me clarify, he shouldn't go pro. Although he isn't having a phenomenal season, he has way more bad tape than good. Also, his picks have been a direct effect of the d-line. They need to know he can perform at his high level without that same benefit.

There will be room for Tony Brown to be on the field a lot next year if he continues to improve. Cyrus Jones is a senior. Geno Matias-Smith is a senior. That is two guys getting a lot of playing time that will be gone. Of course one is a safety, but that will still result in some shifting in nickel and dime looks.

The competition is pretty intense at DB for Bama now and for the next couple of years at least. Anybody who plays is going to have to earn it. Alabama could have some DBs drafted in a couple of years that aren't even "starters" in Alabama's base 4 DB look.

It's fricking pathetic that this board has gotten to the point to where any serious inquiry or discussion has to be preceded and followed by a no-troll statement. Chicken needs to burn this thing down and start over.

I think most of the responses here have nailed it. Humph is more fluid and natural, the shoulder injury cost him some time and reps, and no one predicted Minkah coming into fall and tearing it up like he did. I predict him crosstraining at safety next year in preparation for the shift.

For real. For some reason, this is the thread that broke me when it comes to this board. I just started wondering why I even come here to read drivel - and then I realize I'd rather procrastinate by reading bullshite than read for contracts. Such is life.

Yeah, but almost all of his bad tape is at CB and he'll definitely enter the draft as a safety...I'd like to see him return and agree he could probably improve his draft status if he stays another year...but, if he continues to play the rest of the year as he has thus far, I could see him possibly goin' within the first 3 rounds...could be wrong, but I don't think this year's draft class is considered all that deep at safety...

Yea, but you can easily say that his production is a direct result of the dominant front 7. Take that away and then what? Does he look more like his former self? There are still a few questions for me

The talent Alabama has assembled at corner is very impressive.

Was it the playbook that forced the RS for Sheffield?

And a warning sent to the poster. The SECrant can be a really good board, but there's too much nonsense going on.
