Sure the stupid unsportmanslike penalty made us kick from the 20. But still should have won it. The coaching in the last 10 seconds was abysmal.
1) With the kick return formation UT lined up in, CKS should have order a tough to handle line drive kick instead of a short bloop kick that allowed the returner to catch in the air at the 35 yard line on a dead run.
2) Rush 5-6 guys where Dobbs doesn't have all day back there. Make him get rid of the GD ball.
3) Why is our best pass rusher, a 6-6 LC playing safety? He has no ball skills. He was behind the WR. Don't blame him, he is a pass rusher. Not a Safety.
4) Why weren't the kids coached to use their arms like hammers to bat the ball down?
Several other coaching blunders earlier in the game:
1) Too Conservative play calling in early and mid 4th quarter with great field position. Two 3 and outs instead of delvering a dagger to the Vols
2) Too aggressive of play calling with backs against the wall. Eason gets sacked in own end zone, fumbles and UT TD.
3) Very poor clock management. Smart fails to call time out after stopping UT on first down at 2:00 and 40 seconds run off the clock. Luckily, Eason-Ridley bailed out this poor coaching decision until the next blunder.
I do not appreciated CKS calling out the players (Rico McGraw) and saying they lost the game because of his unsportmanslike conduct penalty. He should be a leader and shoulder the blame himself...all of us have to acknowledge multiple coaching mistakes. The great coaches accept blame in defeat and defer credit to the players in victory.

Did y'all even take a shot on Herman last year or was Smart hired so South Carolina wouldn't hire him first?

I would have better defended the hail mary in the end zone then the 4 or 5 Georgia players who were around the ball. They took themselves out of the play by standing in the back half of the end zone. You get position, or if you don't for whatever reason, you fricking do anything and everything to prevent a WR from getting the ball. That was the worst hail mary defense I've ever seen.

Without the unsportsmanlike conduct and offsides penalties, that Hail Mary from Dobbs doesn't even make it to the 10 yard line, much less into the endzone. You don't have to like it, but it's true.

Welcome to the world of Jim Chaney, get used to it there is more to come.

I didn't get the kickoff strategy at all, particularly with how Tennessee lined up.
Considering how little time was left, I thought it was worse than the squib against Tech a couple of years ago.

any team that can score a TD with 10 seconds to go in a game ....should be allowed to celebrate, as long as there is no throat slash or anything towards the other team.

OP is pretty spot on.
That shite UGa pulled....normally, only the Saints can snatch defeat from victory so impressively.
That was just terrible, and CKS should shoulder the blame and keep it private.

Ultimately on hail marys, it's sometimes about the defensive players using common sense.
The only thing you cannot do on a hail mary play is the following:
A: Let the receivers get in front of you.
Why have I seen this happen more often than it should? It's happened at least 3 times that I recall in the last year.
Once it happens, you need to do SOMETHING other than stand there looking like idiots. Maybe commit PI as its usually not called in end of game situations.
Normal hail mary defense is fine unless the defenders allow the receivers to get in front. It's a play that usually shouldn't happen.
On the kickoff, I've seen Richt make a similar mistake not too long ago that got a good return and led to an OT loss.

A normal kickoff, even without the penalties probably doesn't get to the end zone or get too deep and Georgia's kickoff coverage hasn't been good for a while.

The penalty wasn't really bc he was celebrating though, the penalty was for taking his helmet off on the field of play which is considered a player safety issue

If Chaney isn't trying to throw the ball from the 2 yard line, then Derek Barnett doesn't get the opportunity to put a lick on Eason and force a fumble.

I don't mind the call but I don't like having to depend on a TE and RB to block Barnett.

It was a player who came off the bench, or so I thought.
