The only thing the same is gays wears jorts and aggies are gay.
And since that deosnt matter on the football field, there is nothing similar.

They're still undefeated

It's pathetic that this is a thread in the 3rd week of the season.

And we're all proud of them.

Mullen has a pretty legit gig - if they pay him decent next time someone comes calling he may stay. Much better to ride out some stability and deal with a fanbase that knows there are going to be ups and downs with their program as opposed to going somewhere and have everyone up in arms after two losses in his first year.
I dont' know what drives him but its not an unreasonable idea that he may be happy with his current gig. Again, depending on how much state will pay him when that offer comes.

I thought aggies loved sumlin. Your life highlight beating OU in the cotton bowl with the dude who failed at qb in the nfl

You will never be in the SEC and it drives you fricking crazy

Maybe he's content living where he is now.
But there is a kind of pattern with coaches. I guess it's not always true (some guys stay at a certain spot for really long periods and it works), but it sure seems as if there is some kind of pattern for something to work well for about 10 years, then it gets stale or something and things start to decline.
Spurrier said something about that once. Can't remember the quote.
But it seems true more often than not.

Once upon a time he was the right guy.
Seasons change at all programs.
Quality post btw.

If and when the Hogs make a coaching change, I would hope we'd go back in the direction of someone like BP. That said, I think Dan would be a fool to go anywhere else in the SEC. I mean, he's making close to 5 mil a year and he has a fan base that doesn't have unrealistic expectations. If he can give them a good season every few years and be respectable most of the others, he has job security. Why walk into an unknown situation for a little more money up front?

Dan has full control at State, the same can't be said at a lot of SEC schools. That's the difference. He's also making 4 mil to basically win 8 games every year. It's definitely a more secure and safer job than TAMU. Again, we've heard this same shite for 9 years now.

Really sad we have to be a school with integrity isn't it? Bring back BmfP.

Mullen cares more about winning than making more than 4.3 million a year.

Except on the football field, where State has won 2 of the last 3 (about to be 3 out of the last 4).

Maybe.
You certainly know more about your program than I do.
And again, I'd be stunned if Mullen was A&M's target.
Hope it works out for y'all, and congrats on the big win.

We've all heard the rumors about Mullen looking for a bigger better job than State. A&M fits the bill, will have the need, & has deep enough pockets. Nothing against State, but if A&M goes all in he's more than likely gone. He's not my first choice, but it would be an acceptable one.

Which is reason #1 why he will jump when a top program finally looks past his oddities and offers him a job.

Let me put it this way:
He has received every expansion and facilities upgrade he has requested, without question
He is given the full set of keys to run the program the way he wants without interference from boosters wanting favoritism.
He has an AD who comes to him and says "Dan what do you need next year?" and he tells him he needs a good D.C. and he gets the one he wants while somehow double-dog reverse fricking Louisville into getting Grantham while unloading ours on them
He is very well payed and worshipped like a King in Mississippi. His wife is an incredible part of of his success and she loves where she is and its proximity to Old Waverly. She also has moved her orwnta here where they can all be here together
He will get another pay raise at the end of this year
He won't be run out of town for having a losing season because the people who write his checks understand we aren't Alabama. He is allowed to participate in marathons all over the country instead of being held to the football complex constantly fretting about recruiting.
His insight, suggestions and recommendations are sought out on infrastructure and development in the GTR on the regular and his suggestions are given a lot of weight.
I think common sense dictates he would have to be criminally insane to walk away from that. Especially when you add into it that his success hasn't always followed a linear path, but he has the program in the right direction and it's getting better every year.
