I haven't even read his exact quotes yet, though I have an idea of what they were from reading tRant. Before the playoff, bowl season seemed like a gradual build up of awesome until bam, the NC.

Last year seemed weird to me. The bowl games just seemed to be an annoyance that got in the way of playoff discussion. I don't know if anyone else felt that way, and I'm not really sure if I'm bitching or not, but I don't really think I enjoyed the CFB postseason as much as I usually do.

Saban is off base here in my opinion. Bowls for years have been watched by the fans of the two teams, bettors, and college football fanatics that realize the games will soon be over. Coaches like them because they get more practices before spring. Players get stuff and are treated well. I don't get his argument on a 4 team playoff. Sure they will get the most attention but come on. If it gets to 16, 24, or 32 team playoff, I could see his point.

Saban just realizes he isn't likely going to win another NC playing 2 top 5 teams to finish the year and wants the playoff gone. He knows they won't do away with all bowl games.

He just needs to get with the times or retire. No one wants to hear him crying every single year about how the rules should be made to give him the easy route.

It's no different than before. The top BCS bowls over shadowed the small bowls just like the Playoff does now. The people going to the bowls are the fans of the 2 schools playing and if it's not the NC game it doesn't matter to them how the NCG is setup. BCS or playoff.

Almost every year has been a clusterfrick. Actually liked last year, the winner played to win who otherwise wouldn't have got the opportunity. If that cheapens the other bowl games, or not, make it to the big game or stop bitching.

People bitch about the old bowl system. People bitch about the playoff system. People just bitch about everything.

I like the playoff. Makes it feel like a more deserved NC.

I think Saban remembers a time when going to a bowl meant something. So what if you don't have a great team that year? You aren't going to have one year in and year out - let the kids enjoy themselves (and have some sense of accomplishment) without feeling like losers for going 8-5.

And . . . the major bowls seem to not be so major now unless you have a playoff spot.

Saban is irritated because Ole Miss had the prestige of going to a "New Year 6" bowl while we had to settle for a playoff game and no bowl. It doesn't seem fair.

Saban though is partly to blame for the changing CFB landscape. His mega contract and ridiculous success has made everyone in the BCS conferences believe that it's chsmpionship or bust.

Saban is upset because under the previous year's two team, single game game BCS championship, Alabama would have probably played Florida St. It would have really been difficult to put a one loss Oregon or Ohio State above an FSU team on a 27 game winning streak. His "sometimes champions don't always get trophies" comment after losing the game to Ohio State also seemed a bit strange to me. He doesn't accept losing well.
