quote:

“The great rivalries and traditions are what make college football special and we respect the traditions of every team we play, especially the schools in our conference and in our state," Saban said. "It is important to be positive in support of your own program and there is absolutely no benefit to negative behavior toward any other institution.

quote:

“We are truly saddened by this destructive behavior from an individual who certainly does not represent our institution, our program, or our fans in any way. It is important that we continue to respect one another in the spirit of good sportsmanship for many years to come.”

The Alabama fan base needs to quit embarrassing Mr. Saban. He done warned you kats before the Penn State game last year.

Who will Harvey cheer for now?

I really hope an AU fan does not retaliate. One redneck fan does not represent an entire fanbase, and I think our efforts at raising money for Toomer's Corner is indicative of that fact. People should realize that this was a stupid act by one individual, and let it go.

saban probably doesn't even realize au has/had trees. Do you really think nick saban gives a rats arse what happens outside of the football field? I can imagine someone from university PR coming up to him wanting him to "give a statement regarding this"....I'll bet that student worker was told to put his "statement" where the sun don't shine & get the "F" out of his office. This was buzzed out from the PR dept at ua & stamped w/ a nick saban sig. Just saying that the guy isn't exactly all that interested in life outside of the football field.

To bad he does root for Alabama and is a representation of the University. All fans have their bad fans.

Unedited version:
quote:

“We are truly made sad relative to this destructive behavior from an individual who certainly does not represent our institution, our program--which is in reality a process that each individual player must take ownership of relative to his own goals and the goals of the team and the insitiution, aight?-- or our fans in any way."

The PR folks in Tuscaloosa have done a helluva job.

As a Louisianian and die hard LSU TIger, I'm tempted to just drive over to Auburn next year for the Iron Bowl and see how the pre-game festivities play out.
