I have a background working in collegiate athletics both in the coaching side and administration side. I have a decent understanding of the mindset of both coaches(particularly young up and coming ones) and decision makers at the desks.
Many coaches have bought into the notion that specific football systems and styles can be consistent winners. What they often overlook is that the best coaches, who develop their players not their systems, are the ones that win. Pen and paper are much easier to deal with than actual human beings.
Decision makers are often wowed by these coaching gurus and their systems in interviews. Often these coaches are only at their previous job 2-3 seasons before they are hired for the next job and you dont get to see them deal with the adversity of other teams adapting to defeat their system or style of play.
When these gurus and their fancy offenses or defenses start getting shut down, they are perplexed and often double down instead of reevaluating and adapting.
Good coaches win, regardless of style. Saban, Meyer, Harbaugh, etc win because they are the best at developing players. This new batch of coaches think they can win by always outsmarting the other guy...football doesnt work that way

Good insight. Lots of evidence to support that looking at several programs in the conference this year.

So what your saying is...
Ed O GOAT?
Ed O GOAT?

There are 3 coaches in college football.
Saban
harbaugh
Meyer
outside of that you can't tell one from the other.

The 5 paragraphs in your OP have been said countless times before with the simple phrase "It's not the x's and the o's but the Jimmie's and the Joe's."

You cant seriously put halfbough in with saban and meyer yet. The guy has not done shite anywhere.

I agree with the OP's theory here. In the end, the great coaches that stand the test of time aren't "system guys" as much as "culture" guys. They create a culture-and your system isn't going to beat their culture with any frequency.

He has won at every level he has been at, he crazy though.

Every coach runs a system. Saben has had the #1 recruiting class for basically the entire time he's been ar BAMA. Don't underestimate the power of good players lol

Agreed. I'd much rather have Tuberville than Malzahn. I knew what to expect. Maybe he couldn't have been as dominant as some of the other guys, but his teams were always competitive. Even 2008 outside of the Iron Bowl was an extremely competitive year.
Now we have Gus Bus trying to do Twirlybird plays against the #1 team in the country.

Not won like the other two though. Compared to them he has not done shite but pull a bunch of jack arse recruiting stunts and bitch about refs in both games they lost this year. Halfbough is a twit at a libtard twit school.

This makes a little sense, but in reality the REC ruined the SEC. Top classes last 7 years and throw in a great coach. This ain't rocket science. What goes around will eventually come around. But not til Saban leaves and Bama gets caught.

Chris Peterson shits on your list. Dude will rule the PAC 12. Washington won the lottery.

How many Super Bowls have Saban and Meyer coached in? How many NFC championships have Saban and Meyer won? I believe Harbaugh has won more than the other two combined.

how many titles does he have them playing for this year? same as last year and every year in college; none. Pro career does not matter in college and he was fired by one of the worst teams in the nfl. He does not stack up to the other two yet.

Not necessarily... the REC has the SEC/NCAA in their pockets. The only possible way to knock their door of corruption down would be getting the feds involved. But ever since the elf on the shelf Jeff Sessions became a member of Trump's cabinet, you can hang that up.

Without a doubt Peterson is top tier. There are other coaches out there that fit that bill as well. Jimbo Fisher, James Franklin, etc are also great coaches.
Yes, Saban is a monster at recruiting but so are other coaches that havent panned out as well. The Texas roster is stacked with 4 and 5 star player...and yet they have two consecutive losing seasons and just lost to Kansas.

Paul Chryst at Wisconsin is truly getting the best out of his team. All of LSU underestimated Wisconsin
