I think Saban stays until he surpasses Bryant in Championships and then he's gone. He wants to be the greatest ever.

IF he were to get 1 this year that would tie him with Bryant at 6. He wants that elusive #7 and then heeee goneeeee.

No chance. I think he coaches until he dies. He wouldn't know what do with himself. He wants to break Bear's record, but once he does, he will still be competing against himself. He can win until 80, I think he will do it.

I think (and hope) that Nick Saban wins out and walks.

He sure is recruiting his arse off for someone who is getting ready to walk away. Miami on Tuesday, California on Wednesday, Georgia on Thursday. Doesn't look like someone who is 3 games away from retirement.

Does he really enjoy it? Dude is so intense and lives and dies with every play. It's a good thing he seems to be in good shape or he would be a heart attack waiting to happen. Honest question and not a troll. Do Bama fans think he could handle a mediocre year at this point in his career? He's been killing it for so many years in a row do you think a 8-4 year would make him say frick it and hang it up?

He hires coordinators, assistant coaches, and position coaches with college or pro experience on their resumes - some of them were HC's in their career. He consistently hauls in the top talent in the country from over a dozen different states.

If he were to turn in a shitty 8-4 season at this point, he'd literally work himself into the grave to redeem himself. The man is a perfectionist, he would never walk away and "hang it up" if he was responsible for a piss poor 8-4 record. It's completely unacceptable in his eyes to perform so badly.

Yep. I would not be surprised if Saban coaches for another 3 - 5. Bad news for the rest of the SEC but nice to see a great coach succeed.

So you're saying we are going to the Championship game?

Why is it only LSU fans that can't accept the fact that Saban isn't going to retire anytime soon?

I remember Bryant saying he may retire after we beat him in '82 and he did. I think Saban will retire when he starts losing and feeling the pressure from mad Gumps. It won't be pretty when it happens, never is.
