I don't think the money is what will get Saban to leave.
Possibly the challenge of bringing a mediocre UT back to the Championship. Also the challenge of knocking off an SEC team from winning that championship.
That said, I don't think he'll be leaving.

Alabama vs Texas for the last BCS Championship. Bookmark it if you must... That is as close as it will get for Saban walking the Texas sideline...

Saban will be our linebackers coach after Randy Shannon gets a new HC gig. Coaching up our LB spot is the biggest challenge facing mankind and Nick is looking for a challenge. Mark it down....

Actually Texas is going to hire Saban as HC, Miles as DC, Sumlin as OC and bring in Muschamp, Spurrier, and Richt as assistants. They will do this after finally accepting Mike Slive's invitation to come to the SEC after he spends a month long campout vigil outside of DeLoss Dodd's house begging for them to grace him with his presence. After all, "They're Texas!" and they can do anything and everyone is jelly of them!
In all seriousness though, this kind of rumor is typical of Texas. They couldn't even hire away Pat Henry (our Track Coach) this past offseason. Saban eats this up as well and if you don't think he cares about money you are very naive. Every move he has ever made has gotten him more money, that's how he rolls. He loves this kind of rumor because he can get Bama to pay him even more, apparently his agent inquired about the A&M job before Sumlin came available (not that he had any intention of taking it, he just wants to make sure Bama keeps bumping up the checks). That's the game. If you are a college HC and you are winning you are a fool not to at least flirt with leaving so you can keep getting bigger checks from your current school, they will certainly cut you fast enough if you don't produce.

He got a pay increase after the 2011 season because he won another title. Not because the Aggie job was open.

I am fairly sure that he took (initially) a paycut to come to Alabama from Miami.

I will have to disagree. The reason he gets raise at Alabama is because he keeps on winning,,, not because some other school offers..

Looks like Longhorns about to hire the Bama Coach.
I will give the Longhorns one thing, they have really deep pockets.

Look, a simple statement by Saban stating that he will not leave Alabama would quash the rumors. I mean, he is a man of his word, isn't he?
A chronology of comments about Nick Saban taking the head coaching job at Alabama:
Nov. 27:
Saban: "When I was in college it was always about coming to the pros. This is the challenge I wanted. I had a good college job. Why would I have left that if I was going to be interested in other college jobs?
"I took this as a challenge. We certainly haven't seen this through and gotten where we want to go and finished the job here, so why would I be interested in something else?"
Dec. 5:
Dolphins owner Wayne Huizenga (after giving Saban a vote of confidence): "I am completely sold on Nick Saban. I would admit we made a mistake if we did make a mistake, but I firmly believe in Nick Saban."
Dec. 7:
Saban: "I'm flattered that they may have been interested in me, but it never really progressed, because we just never let it progress."
Dec. 21:
Saban: "I guess I have to say it. I'm not going to be the Alabama coach. ... I don't control what people say. I don't control what people put on dot-com or anything else. So I'm just telling you there's no significance, in my opinion, about this, about me, about any interest that I have in anything other than being the coach here."
Dec. 27:
Saban: "I'm just making a rule to never comment on something like that again because every time you comment on it, it just makes for another story. So I'm not going to comment on it five years from now, and I'm not going to comment on it next week."
Jan. 4:
Saban: "What I realized in the last two years is that we love college coaching because of the ability that it gives you to affect people, young people. ... If I knew that my heart was someplace else in what I wanted to do, I don't think it would be fair to the [Dolphins] organization if I stayed."

False. Every move he ever made was a move up on the ladder of success. Money just happens to come with that. He doesn't care about money any more than I do, although I'm sure he's quite happy to have it.

It's awesome that you have that saved somewhere.
Saban WASN'T coming back to college. But he changed his mind. Watch "Nick Saban, Gamechanger". They tell the story quite well of what actually happened. Mal Moore basically camped out with him and wouldn't leave until he'd changed Saban's mind.

The move to Bama was definitely a move down. Every Coach(just like every player) wants to win on the highest level. Leaving the pros for college was an admission of failure. He was smart enough not to keep trying to do something he couldn't.

Naw, it ain't saved, it's googled.
If anyone thinks that winning another national championship at yet another school isn't a powerful incentitive for the ego isn't being realistic though.
Money? Ok, money is a factor but not the main factor. It's about the hunt, the win, not just the money. It's about the adoration, the recognition, not just the money.
Of course nobody knows, not even Saban, if the Texas job will be open and offered but the chances are that both will happen. And if Texas really wants him there's not a school in the country which can compete with them for his services.

It is funny how much of this occupies your mind.

In all seriousness... Saban has accomplished all at Alabama. 3 titles in 4 with a chance to make a 3 peat this year. Who knows what he will do? He may decide I have reached the pinnacle here and choose to raise another program up from mediocrity. He has won a national title at 2 different schools, Why not make it 3??
Either way,,, Bama will be ok,,, and bama fans will be thankful to Coach Saban....

And LSU fans should recognize and appreciate what Saban did while there. One of the main things is to instill discipline and accountability in the players. I like that in a coach and Saban was the best at it.

Saban left Michigan State for LSU and got a lot more money. Saban left LSU for the pros and got more money. Saban left the pros for Bama to be the highest paid college coach and he has kept that up. Is he driven solely by money? No, but to act like he is above it is a joke. Saban wants to be paid what he is worth and there is nothing wrong with that.
Of course Saban gets raises because he wins but he also gets them because Bama wants to make sure he knows he will be paid as well at Bama as anywhere else. Saban isn't from Alabama, he didn't go to school there, he never coached there previously, and he really had no ties to Bama before taking the job.
Does he like it there? Of course, but it is not a Bear Bryant situation. He is at Bama because he has the support and resources he wants and gets paid a huge pile of cash. I doubt he leaves simply because there isn't really a better situation for him and he already got the pro thing out of his system but I don't see him as someone that always dreamed of being the coach at Bama.
I will say this though, Bama and Texas folks do have a lot in common in their assumption that everyone is jelly of them and wakes up every day wishing they could be them.
