I said it for 2 years, that nick marshall was nearly impossible to stop and everyone thought i was crazy. The kid was the fastest on the field and could throw the ball 80 yards in the air. was he a little erratic at times, yes. But He was wayyyyy better then he was ever given credit for. All my barner friends used to say, "Wait until we have a qb that can throw."
Malzahn little mickey mouse offense only works when the qb can run. Its amazing how average it is when you don't have to even focus on the qb running.

You must have some dumb 'barner' friends then. But that's not surprising.

Agreed for the most part.
Marshall also had the luxury of working behind an experienced and talented offensive line. He also had Tre Mason in 2013 and CAP in 2014. Barber is serviceable, but Auburn 2015 hasn't found that reliable, big play running back.
But the biggest difference in 2013/2014 and 2015 is the ability to stretch the field. Coates was always a big play threat and forced safeties to play deep to prevent the deep ball. In 2015, safeties don't have to worry so much about the receivers going deep (who can go deep? Jason Smith? He's a true freshman), so they can play closer to the line and prevent any running plays from going more than 5 or 6 yards.

been saying it for a while. They lost the dynamic part of their offense that made it great. The more "normal" offense they run now, caters to the strengths of an SEC type defense.

Combo of Marshall, Mason, and Coates was the key. Auburn's defense was total trash in 13.

Offense works better with great QB...alert the media.
Stupid is as stupid does.

Auburn lost because of their inability to score touchdowns in the redzone and they had the same problem against State and Alabama last year with Marshall.
.
Auburn had 230 yards rushing before sacks are subtracted and Sean White had 60 yards rushing individually before sacks are subtracted

Don't subtract sacks. Marshall had 1068 yards and 12 TDs on a 6.2 average in 2013. He ran it 172 times (only played 13 games and he didnt play against an FCS opponent). All of the rushers dipped in avg the next year, but he still put up 798 yards and 11 TDs on 5.22 ypc in 13 games. He ran it 153 times.
This year, all Auburn rushers have dipped again in average (different rushers, but even lower averages than their predecessors). If you project the QB carries and yardage, you'll get 104 carries 286 yards, and 6.5 TDs. That's nowhere near the production Marshall was able to produce on his own let alone the average, and advantage he provided for the other rushers.
Auburn's offense in 2013 and 2014 was similar to Ohio State's offense in 2012 and 2013.

I think Malzahn is a good coach and will adapt accordingly.
Also, I love to just sit back and watch gumps make Auburn threads. Pussies.

You're about the fiftieth person to clam you are the only one to see the greatness of Nick Marshall when nobody else did.
Auburn fans got ridiculed for claiming he was very good as Auburn's QB for two years.
Which is it, only a few knew or Auburn fans were silly for saying Nick was really good?

The majority of Auburn fans knew how good Nick was and knew he would be sorely missed.
What we did not know is how bad JJ would be.

Marshall made that offense go, he was so dangerous I would cringe every time he took off. Now it 's the Aubs that do the cringing.
