This week marks the last time that Fournette and Chubb will have played the same opponent this season, so I thought we could take a look at everything based purely on statistics. Obviously Fournette has had an incredible season, probably wins the eye test over pretty much any other RB, and he's still my Heisman leader, but I believe this debate is much closer than many LSU fans would like to believe.

Games played against the same opponent
2014:
Arkansas: Chubb - 30 att for 202, 2TD (1 rec for 8); Fournette - 5 att for 9
Auburn: Chubb - 19 att for 144, 2TD (2 rec for 48); Fournette - 10 att for 42, 1TD
Florida: Chubb - 21 att for 156, 1TD (5 rec for 59, 1TD); Fournette - 27 att for 140, 2TD
Kentucky: Chubb - 13 att for 170, 1TD; Fournette - 15 att for 40

2015:
Alabama: Chubb - 20 att for 146, 1TD (1 rec for -5); Fournette - 19 att for 31, 1TD
South Carolina: Chubb - 21 att for 159, 2TD; Fournette - 20 att for 158, 1TD (3 rec for 25)

Totals: Chubb - 124 att for 977 (7,88 avg), 9TD (9 rec for 110, 1TD); Fournette - 96 att for 420 (4.38 avg), 5TD (3 rec for 25)

Season totals:
2014
Chubb: 219 att for 1547 (7.1 avg), 14 TD; 18 rec for 213, 2 TD
Fournette: 187 att for 1034 (5.5 avg), 10 TD; 7 rec for 127, 24 KO ret for 625 (26 avg), 1 TD

2015
Chubb: 92 att for 747 (8.1 avg), 7 TD; 4 rec for 32, 1 TD
Fournette: 195 att for 1383 (7.1 avg), 16 TD; 7 rec for 58

Career totals:
Chubb: 311 att for 2294 (7.4 avg), 21 TD; 22 rec for 245, 3 TD
Fournette: 382 att for 2417 (6.3 avg), 26 TD; 14 rec for 185, 24 KO ret for 625 (26 avg), 1 TD

I think it's pretty obvious that Chubb is the better back.

Nice stats but I think LF1.6 is better against weak competition.

I'm sorry, Chubb is a great back...but Fournette is better and he was better even when Chubb wasn't broken

Chubb was getting his arse kicked by Alabama too and broke off one garbage time run to save face.

Chubb had the benefit of his team being completely out of the game to get that garbage run.

Fournette had to play Bama's starting D all game.

Chubb had more rushing yards by halftime.

So because Foster filled in the wrong gap, the run doesn't count? That's ridiculous.

Fournette stays healthy though and that's all that matters

It took 1 crappy game by Fournette, for LSU fans to start feeling so insecure about their RB, that they had to start taking shots about Chubb tearing a ligament in his knee.

Pretty classy if you ask me

Sony Michel against Alabama - 9 rushes for 53 yards and 5.9 yards per carry.

So even our backup (starter now) did considerably better against Bama than LF7.

Fact.
