"In 2014, according to an NCAA report, the average FBS college baseball program lost $764,000. Only ice hockey ($1.06 million) is harder on the budget. Baseball produces revenue at some successful schools, but most places it’s deep in the red."
Schools that make money generally have to play 10 more homes per year in the regular season to make money.

Title of the article:
There's a pretty easy fix. Do away with Title IX.

So they can lose more money?

Not sure what you expected. Baseball is a tertiary sport...it loses money like every other sport outside of football/basketball.
Sorry your team sucks AND is costing your school big bucks.

If they were just able to raise the scholarship limit to about 20 total, you would see a gigantic shift of talent to the upper tier schools. That would increase the level of play at the top and potentially bring more eye balls to the sport.
It is absurd that women's basketball gets more scholarships than baseball.

Sorry your team sucks at women's basketball.

ETA: Men's basketball only get 13 compared to Women's 15. That is equally absurd.

What college baseball a club sport back in the 90s when only 48 teams made the NCAA tourney?

You still don't get it. I was being obnoxious about it on purpose to try and fit in around here.

Yeah, but you have to make up 85 scholarships that football gets somehow.

In the current environment, yes. I've long advocated that at the very least football should be removed from the Title IX calculation.

It's college baseball. WBB and softball are more popular than college baseball.
I said it before and I'll say it again. I'd trade 5 national championships in baseball for one in football or basketball. You've got to win one in one of the big two sports to get respect.

Or how about just give the Universities autonomy to distribute schollys as they please?
That way Tennessee can use all their scholarships on WBB

That's the thing, even they don't use all 15 available scholarships. Pretty much no one does. But those open spots are allowed to prevent scholarships from going to guys.

Since we are keeping score.
You keep settling lawsuits and we will keep kicking your arse in baseball. Fine by me.

The UT athletics department settled an unrelated lawsuit alleging gender discrimination for $1 million in January. Once attorney fees were factored in, that settlement figure increased to $1.2 million.
In 2014, UT also settled a gender discrimination suit filed by one of its top athletics officials for $320,000. That brings the total lawsuit settlements involving the athletics program under the leadership of Hart to $3.6 million.
UT allocated $700,000 this year for six new positions in its Title IX office that investigates allegations of sexual assault.
