When I went to the 2011 BCSNCG I paid like $225 for my student tickets. Stubhub has tickets listed for $240. What gives? Bama to used to going? Clemson too far?

Difficult to find flights in such a short span from last week's games.

having to buy flights/hotels on a week's notice is pricing a lot of people out. Tickets to the NC game will be cheap when neither team is within driving distance.

I remember stories of being able to buy tickets for FSU-Auburn outside the rose bowl for <$100

That's probably one of the most glaring issues with the playoff. The quick turnover that hinders fans from being able to plan their traveling.

I bet the scalpers are hating this new system. I really expected this to be an expensive ticket even with the quick turnaround just for the fact the stadium is so small.

I know in 2009, 2011, & 2012 Bama fans were willing to drop some cash but the two playoff games (plus the SEC Championship game) is just asking a lot out of any fanbase. A lot of people either planned to go to Dallas or Phoenix but not both.

There are a lot of tickets floating around right now for decent prices but the problem is flights out of Birmingham, ATL, etc to Phoenix are a huge chunk of change.

If it was Tampa Bay it would be a hard ticket but that is next year. Maybe Oregon will play Stanford next year in Tampa Bay.

There was a cheap flight with American Airlines yesterday still left out of Chattanooga for around $450 but it had 3 connections on the way out there and 2 on the way back.

Another big issue is quick turnaround of the actual tickets.

Alabama didn't send their allotment out via email until yesterday. I'm sure Clemson was similar. That is 50% of the stadium tickets which weren't issued until less than a week before the game. That is going to wreak havoc with the marketplace.

This. And adding another round of games to expand the playoff to 8 teams will make this even more of an issue.

I had a free ticket offered to me, but the cost of a flight and hotel were just too much. Was pretty disappointing.

That does suck. Had your circumstances been optimal, would you had gone alone anyway? I don't think I would.

The biggest problem is flights. Hotels can be had, but flights are just a nightmare.

Doesn't help that everyone from both schools is flying out of roughly the same region.

Yeah, I should have rephrased. I could have pitched in and stayed with my aunt, uncle, and cousin at their hotel but last minute flights were just insanely pricey.

Yeah. Normally someone from Alabama could just drive to ATL and get on a cheaper direct flight. Unfortunately, half of South Carolina is doing the same thing.

Maybe take a train with a sleeping car ticket or whatever that's called? You could sleep on the train go to the game, maybe have to pull 36 hours awake or so, then hop back on the train home and sleep.

That would be awesome (we took the train from Birmingham to New Orleans) but there aren't any direct routes from the Southeast to Arizona/California. Besides, Amtrak on long routes like that ends up being just as expensive as a flight.

The point is you don't need a hotel though. May have to find something to do with the small amount of luggage you'd need though. Maybe rent a car would work and you are golden.
