So you think we can get away with paying a player $375K but this will bring us down?

I'm not saying Auburn did anything wrong. Those are just the points of interest that would make the NCAA and SACS look into this.

Auburn lacks instutional control. This is not news as it is common knowledge.

The only way either gets involve is if the AD pressured the PS Dept to ease their requirements or change a grade. This had nothing to do with either.

Alabama is so good, they control two institutions(UAt and UAB). Talking about a situation where SACS needs to get involved.

Death Penalty??

If Aubbie receives the Death Penalty, we should replace them with Clemson in the East and move Missouri to the West.

The AD offered to pay for a visiting scholar to relieve the workload of the PS Dept (the excuse used for dropping the program). This wasn't a bribe and the AD made the offer so it would not disrupt any of the athletes course track.

Like I said, I think it's totally on the up-and-up. I was simply pointing out why the powers that be might decide to take a sniff around to make sure things are in order.

You're right. I want to watch the school I attend (note the username) facing NCAA sanctions. That would make campus life so much more fun if athletics got backhanded.

Not talking about you, just the other posters that are flapping over a non-issue.

Are you going to be spending time in the hall of a hospital anytime soon? You just may be the guy to take up the BlueTunaTiger mantle.

Death penalty would be fair and reasonable.

I love Auburn vs. the NCAA. It brings out the real crazies on this board.

It has been rather boring lately. This could be a rallying point for the end of this offseason. I am looking forward to this cranking up to a fevered pitch.

This season needs to get underway so story lines like this can go to the back burner.

All SEC schools place their athletes in specific majors to help them make it through the university with as little an academic load as possible.

I'm glad to see our AD allow some level of transparency for us to know about this. The result is that potential academic issues like these come to light to the public. If we (the public) gain knowledge of these happenings within our AD, then it will only put pressure on those responsible to either fix the issues or insure this particular major is legitimate.

The contrary situation is the AD's ability to sweep issues under the rug in hopes they aren't found. We only need to look as far as UNC to see the problems this may cause.
