For those that are bigtime basketball fans, would you support a formulaic poll that selected and seeded the tournament if the formula was public knowledge? Lets say the formula was very similar to the RPI.

The selection committee would just be in charge of placing the teams in the right region based off rank kind of like they do now.

Lets also say the NCAA would keep the system in place for 3 to 5 years but release the ranking so teams could adjust scheduling as necessary when the selection system finally converts to the poll.

*Im not against the current system at all. Im just kind of bored on a Sunday morning

The RPI is too simple, they need to make a formula more like the BPI to take more things into account like Margain of victory/loss, players available to play, etc.

I don't either, but our decision makers are too stupid to do what is necessary and jettison Kennedy for a real coach without missing the dance.

If, after that happens, Kennedy doesn't resign, then he is a liar.

Possibly. I think that would be an interesting dynamic although a poll system would diminish the suspense of selection sunday.

The BPI is nowhere near a reliable source...I'm not suggesting that its not a usable tool, but Duke is not a Top 10 anything, and Bama, despite a quality schedule and results with that schedule, are 10 spots lower than Arkansas and NC State.

A selection committee is not perfect, but allowing for subjective measures is not the worst thing in the world. They get some things wrong every year, but by and large they do a fairly good job of creating a compelling product.

Not really.

It will still have room for surprises from the AQ conference tourney winners. Remember Georgia's run in the SEC tournament the year lightning stuck the dome?

You'd still have that final index that factors in the automatic qualifiers and drops some teams out of the dance that were projected to be in.

You are stuck with him. He is protected under the ADA.

They're gonna start having in-season seed revealings just like they do in college football.

Already happening in women's basketball.

ADA protects him from being fired because of his disability. Failing to make the dance 5 years in a row has nothing to do with Parkinsons. It means you are a terrible coach.
