amazing how it's changed in 40 years. Where in 1974, you could have a super record, yet miss the tourney.

sort of like getting bowl bids now.

and Alabama still can't make it.

How many of those were when the NCAAT was second fiddle to the NIT?

The 29 total appearances, 10 Sweet Sixteen appearances, 10 Elite Eight appearances, 6 Final Four appearances, 2 National Championship games and 1 National Championship help me sleep at night. However, thanks for your concern.

Sounds to me like you've been hit with tDecline. The sort of which has stricken Tennessee football.

Those were the days when mostly tourney champs went dancing, very few at-large berths. 22-25 teams made the dance in '74. SCAR had consistently ranked Top 5 teams from '69-74 but up until '72 the ACC cock-blocked Carolina from the dance. In '72 we left the ACC because of it and around that time decided we were going to be a baseball and football school.

It's taking us awhile to regroup. We'll have a fine basketball program again one day.

Arkansas' has a relatively inflated number, they weren't competing with UK when there was only 1 tournament berth per conference.

In our case only like 1 in 1940. Pretty much all of our stuff was done post-1976. Can't speak for the other schools, UK of course is all across the spectrum of decades but is probably still ahead of everyone by a good amount even if you drew a line from when the NIT became less important onward. Arkansas I think did some stuff in the '60s but bulk of their stuff was modern era too.

If you knew anything about AU basketball, you would not find it that interesting.

I thought your BJ McKie (sp?) team in the 1990s was really good and always felt bad that they got upset twice in the first round and never won a game.

Well, I mean, I did feel bad, before I met you.

Arkansas only had 4 tourney appearances prior to 1977. Tourney expanded to 32 teams in 1975.
