NCAA Softball Bracket Format

Regionals...4 teams with best advancing
Supers...2 teams with best of 3 advancing
WCWS...same format as Regionals
WCWS Finals...same format as Supers
Is that right? Quite an odd setup.

It's just like baseball. What's tough to understand? Eight teams make it to the WCWS.

I've never watched NCAA softball nor baseball tournaments. I thought it was more like the basketball format where you don't play everybody in your "group".
MLB also does the 2 team pairing, so that's what I was thinking.

It's just a double elimination format. For example, both a&m and Florida lost games in the sec tourney but battled back to make the championship game. Makes ye games more interesting and takensinto account that one bad bounce or bad outing can make all the difference but not necessarily reflect a teams full ability

It's a pretty fair format to all teams involved. You have to lose at least twice to get bumped from the post-season.

One difference in softball, IIRC is that the two sides of the bracket are not mutually exclusive. The losers "flip" brackets.

Pretty much, just like baseball it is double elimination
