Am I the only one who thinks this is wrong?

Is NCAA coming in terms with reality that drug abuse is so common these days and the only way to tackle it is to reduce the penalty and not have a mess on their hands?

No, the NCAA is realizing that there are schools in States where a certain drug is now legal and therefore cannot punish an athlete for taking a drug that is 1. legal, and 2. not a performance enhancer.

Hopefully, individual schools will still be able to use pot as an excuse to process unwanted players.

Funny that they were both mentioned in the same article. It makes sense now

Not so sure it will be very beneficial. Won't teams still be allowed to have their own policies?

I used to be against legalizing pot but seeing first hand the effect of synthetic....better to legalize, tax and inspect (to make sure it isn't getting spiked).

No, you're not. But all the "cool kids" on here are apparently potheads, so they'll make fun of you. God forbid we should expect athletes to comply with FEDERAL law (which applies everywhere in the United States, regardless of whatever any state might choose to do).

Arent' UGA's rules on failed drug tests more stringent than the NCAA's? Unless the UGA Administration decides to reduce their penalties then I doubt this NCAA ruling will affect your players.

I don't smoke, nor am I a kid.

I see a taxable commodity that this country could use to generate billions annually.

Mary Jane is a safer drug than alcohol, so I think it's okay for this one.

keep an eye out on your FEDERAL law, because it won't be a FEDERAL law for much longer.
