It's never been made clear as to who voted on the All SEC team & COY, at least as far as I can tell. All that I've seen is " the All SEC TEAM is: ....". Childress did a bang up job, hands down, but as has bee said, the aggies really struggled down the stretch & won only one SEC wkend series. Sullivan at Fla, with all that youth, did well, too. But then, so did CPM, as he actually won the league championship. All comes down to who actually voted.

As I said before the Championship game, A&M played their way out of a national seed down the stretch and Vandy had a chance to play their way in by winning the tourney. I still think Vandy would have been one had they won the tournament.

I can't speak for all Vandy fans, but I'm cool with our draw. We won a national championship without the benefit of a national seed (and by ironically being paired with the overrated Big Ten champ who did not (may not) win their regional), and we've been bounced in the regional as the #1 overall seed.

I'd rather have our path to Omaha than Florida's.

You harped ad-nauseum about how the aggies would get a national seed, I said they finished less than stellar and would NOT !
What's the problem ? You were clearly WRONG...what are we missing here ?

I said they should, not would. We had several discussions about all the teams in the mix and who was more deserving. It didn't happen for us Ags, oh well. You seem to be taking this pretty hard. Maybe you should relax a little.

I have no problem with our draw either. Either we get on a run and repeat or we don't.

I fully expect Vandy to be in Omaha. The road through the northern schools shouldn't be too daunting if you play close to how you played in the SECT. I'd gladly trade if you want.

Pretty similar draw to last yr in that you are paired with a B1G national seed that was coming in hot but had a decent 2 seed in their regional that could win and allow you to host.

D1 Preview for LA

quote:

Best Defensive Player: This regional features four quality shortstops fielding between .948 and .962. Bakersfield’s Mylz Jones and Mississippi’s Errol Robinson offer premium range and slick actions, but we’ll give the slightest nod to UCLA playmaker Kevin Kramer, who stands out for his instincts, body control and arm accuracy.

No. 1 Seed Win Probability (1-10): 7. Maryland and Ole Miss have plenty of veterans back from teams that made deep postseason runs last year, so this should be a very competitive regional. But UCLA is one of college baseball’s very best, most complete, most consistent teams.

Ole Miss
After finally breaking through to Omaha last year for the first time since 1972, the Rebels had to replace their top three hitters and No. 1 starter Chris Ellis. They spent all season scrapping and clawing to stay at or just above the .500 mark against the nation’s top-ranked schedule, but they proved they are good enough to beat elite teams by winning a series against Florida and another at Vanderbilt. The Rebels aren’t nearly the pitching staff they were a year ago — their ERA spiked from 2.72 in 2014 to 4.44 this year. Ace lefty Christian Trent (7-6, 3.70) has been solid but not superb like he was a year ago — though he’s still an accomplished southpaw with savvy and quality stuff, so the Rebels’ best chance to win this regional might be to save him for lefty-heavy UCLA. That would mean starting RHP Brady Bramlett in the opener; his calling card is a disappearing 85-88 fastball that he hides exceptionally well, helping him rack up strikeouts at a surprising rate. The No. 3 starter spot has been a problem all year, and the Rebels tried moving veteran reliever Scott Weathersby into the spot down the stretch, with mixed results. The bullpen is built around 5-foot-8 lefty Wyatt Short, who has a lightning-fast arm and the right temperament for tight spots, helping him rack up 10 saves and a 1.42 ERA. The offense has some real firepower courtesy of mashing first baseman Sikes Orvis (16 HR), physical third baseman Colby Bortles (7 HR) and athletic outfielder J.B. Woodman (7 HR). Woodman and Cameron Dishon bring good speed to the outfield, and shortstop Errol Robinson and veteran catcher Austin Knight make the defense solid up the middle. Ole Miss is not a juggernaut like it was a year ago, but it is well coached, scrappy and extremely battle tested.

A LOT of ULCA love. Go prove em wrong, Ole Miss.

BA Preview for Gainsville

quote:

1. Florida (44-10, 19-11 SEC East)
31st appearance (eighth straight), automatic, second place in SEC East, SEC tournament champion
Top 200 Prospects: SS Richie Martin (31), OF Harrison Bader (85), 3B Josh Tobias (138), RHP Taylor Lewis (184)
Season In A Sentence: The Gators, the No. 2 national seed a year ago only to face a quick exit in a home regional, were determined from the start of the season to get back here, and thanks to juniors Martin and Bader and sophomores A.J. Puk and Buddy Reed, here they are.
Strengths: The Gators have a deep and diverse offense, led by freshman J.J. Schwarz (.307/.367/.592) who led the team with 14 homers and big contributions from Tobias (.373/.441/.565), Martin (20 steals, .290) and Bader (13 homers despite a month-long slump). The pitching staff is just as deep with sophomore Logan Shore (7-6, 2.79) fronting a rotation that features freshman and possible game one starter Alex Faedo (4-1, 3.58) and a lockdown bullpen that with Taylor Lewis (6-1, 1.32) and Kirby Snead (1-0, 2.70), who both averaged nearly a strikeout per inning.
Question Marks: As talented as Puk is—he struck out 11 against Arkansas in the SEC tournament—he can be inconsistent and posted a 4.23 ERA. The Gators look to the junior Bader for leadership, but he slumped down the stretch.
Outlook: The Gators seem determined not to repeat 2014's debacle. They have beaten FAU and South Florida already this season. It won’t be an easy regional, but expect the Gators to emerge

BA Preview for LA

quote:

2. Mississippi (30-26, 15-14 in SEC)

20th appearance (fourth straight), at-large, fourth place in SEC West

Top 200 Prospects: None

Season In A Sentence: The Rebels took some time to gel after having to replace a number of contributors off last year’s Omaha team, but they had their high points, winning series against Florida and Vanderbilt, and finished with 13 top 50 RPI wins.

Strengths: It’s unusual to see a Rebels team with such pedestrian numbers on the mound, but Ole Miss does have some tough arms at the back of its bullpen in lefty closer Wyatt Short (4-1, 1.42, 10 saves), who’s shown swing-and-miss stuff, and big, physical righthander Jacob Waquespack (3.53 ERA). Pitchability righty Scott Weathersby (4-2, 2.62) was another one before shifting to the rotation late. Junior college transfer Connor Cloyd (.400/.467/.453) has brought some energy and toughness to the top of the lineup, and the Rebels do have thump whenever Sikes Orvis (16 HR), Colby Bortles (7 HR) or J.B. Woodman (7 HR) are up.

Question Marks: Junior Christian Trent (7-6, 3.70) returned to be the ace of the staff but, while he’s had his moments, he hasn’t been as consistent as he was a season ago. As good as the bullpen can be—the Rebels are 23-2 when leading after six—their starters have been vulnerable, and they’re not going to be winning by coming from behind against an opponent the caliber of UCLA. The Rebels are the least offensive team of the four in Los Angeles. Their lineup ranks 43rd in the country with 241 walks, but without getting the free bases or home runs from Orvis, Bortles or Woodman, they struggle to score.

Outlook: The Rebels do have key vets with Omaha experience in Orvis and Trent, and they’ve proven they can beat UCLA-like pitching-rich teams in Florida and Vandy. If they can get a lead, look out, but they’re still a solid underdog to the deeper Bruins.

1. Louisiana State (48-10, 21-8 in SEC )

28th appearance (fourth straight), at-large, first place in SEC West

Top 200 Prospects: SS Alex Bregman (4), OF Andrew Stevenson (165), C Kade Scivicque (166).
Season In A Sentence: Only a loss in the SEC tournament semifinals kept LSU from being the No. 1 national seed as slam-dunk first-rounder Alex Bregman led the offense and starters Jared Poche and freshman Alex Lange fronted the rotation.

Strengths: The rotation is solid with Poche and Lange, likely the two regional-opening starters, while Bregman leads a veteran offense along with juniors Chris Chinea and Mark Laird and seniors Kade Scivicque, Jared Foster and Chris Sciambra. And don’t sleep on their speed as the Tigers swiped 112 bases, sixth-best in the nation.

Question Marks: Who starts the opener? Coach Paul Mainieri was undecided as of press time. Freshman Jake Godfrey struggled and was removed from the rotation but Austin Bain, who replaced him, went just 1 2/3 innings in his SEC tournament start. Russell Reynolds and Doug Norman have started games this season and could be options as well.

Outlook: Befitting a team that was close to being the No. 1 national seed, LSU’s highly charged offense shouldn’t have much trouble getting through to super regionals, where compelling matchups with Houston—which knocked out LSU a year ago—Rice or in-state rival Louisiana-Lafayette await.

BA Preview for College Station

quote:

1. Texas A&M (45-11, 18-10 in SEC)

31st appearance (ninth straight), at-large, second place in SEC West

Top 200 Prospects: Grayson Long (129).

Season In A Sentence: Despite losing starters A.J. Minter and Tyler Stubblefield for long stretches, the Aggies won 45 games and had a strong case for a national seed.

Strengths: Grayson Long (9-0, 2.62) and Matt Kent (7-1, 3.42) stepped up in the absence of Minter and Stubblefield—who did return before the end of the season—and the team had a 3.07 ERA. Meanwhile, six hitters top .300, led by Mitchell Nau’s .371. Andrew Vinson (.199 BAA, 1.58 ERA) is a big part of a solid bullpen.

Question Marks: The pitching injuries sapped staff depth and forced Jason Freeman and Turner Larkins into the rotation along with relievers Ryan Hendrix and Kyle Simonds. Long and Kent will likely start the first two games of the regional, but Game Three is up in the air. With a lack of speed, if the Aggies are kept in the park, runs will be tough to create.

Outlook: Even with an unsure rotation, A&M’s high-powered offense should blast its way through the regional for a delicious super regional against TCU.

D! Preview for Tallahassee
quote:

X-Factor: Auburn starting pitcher and righthander Cole Lipscomb has beaten Florida and Kentucky in his last two starts. He gets a shot at College of Charleston Friday. Opponents are hitting just .215 off the redshirt sophomore righthander.

Best Defensive Team: Auburn has the outfield speed to eliminate a lot of gappers and are fielding a respectable .973 as a team

Auburn
Auburn finished ninth in the SEC with a 13-17 record, but went 35-24 overall and slipped into the postseason in large part thanks to a challenging schedule and impressive 21 RPI. The Tigers are making their first trip to a regional since they hosted in 2010. Sunny Golloway’s squad has struggled scoring runs this year and average under five per game. They also have hit just 17 home runs as a team – just four more than FSU’s Stewart has alone. As a result, they are extremely aggressive on the bases looking to steal (57-for-94), sacrifice (54), and take extra bases. Anfernee Grier (.335/.404/.463) is AU’s top hitter but he is in the midst of an awful slump in the last few weeks. He is a difference-maker defensively in center field. Robert Daniel (.299/.367/.433) is the top power threat with three home runs and 37 RBI. Auburn has a legitimate ace in all-SEC second team selection Cole Lipscomb (8-2/2.38). After Keegan Thompson (7-3/3.21) was sidelined the last month, Lipscomb has carried the staff. Thompson worked two innings against Florida the last weekend of the season but did not pitch in Hoover and his availability in Tallahassee will be limited. Doctors approved Keegan Thompson to throw this weekend, but his maximum will be a couple of innings. Rocky McCord (5-4/4.12), Dalton Rentz (3-4/2.62), and Robby Clements (5-0/3.18) are starting candidates while Justin Camp (2-12/2.42/8 svs) and Trey Wingenter (1-6/4.31/4 svs) are the top relief options. For Auburn to be successful this week, it needs to stay in the winners’ bracket and get the Team USA invitee Grier going offensively.

The Hogs got about as good a draw as possible to make it to Omaha. Unfortunately, I don't think we have the pitching to get it done. Unusual, as recently pitching has been our strength.

So going 36-4 in last 40 should take them out of being top 8 seed?

Idgaf what you say that is top 8. Hosting a super gives you an advantage 1 game the first one.

If aTm would made run at end instead of beginning there may not be a complaint.
