They are overstepping what authority they think they have here

Because a recruit/player getting a $100 for spending money is far more important than helping people during a natural disaster.

Every time they inappropriately overstep their bounds like this, it gives more condition 1 ammunition to question why they haven't been reformed

This is the shite that really pisses me off:
Has yet to make a decision? Get your fricking shite together NCAA. Grant the damn waiver. It's even more ridiculous knowing Sampson is giving away shite with other school's stuff on it.

UH asked the NCAA for what’s called a legislative relief waiver, which would relax the rules so Sampson can give donations away faster. The NCAA has yet to make a decision.

This makes me fricking sick! I drive around the Houston area and there are so many people who lost everything.

Probably, but they are in a tough spot. Kinda like the nfl and elliott situation. Nfl gets hell for a long time on abuse against women, but can they do anything about it when they try? Nope.
We all know people will target recruits. I'm sure florida will be an issue too soon enough.

I'm also waiting for them to say something to Cal after their telethon where they raised $1 million (that the Crafts matched). He didn't want it to be subject to Red Cross overhead costs so he took it down himself (meeting Marcus Camby there) and helped check on some of his players/former player's families while there.
That would absolutely be the kind of shite they'd try to pop him on.

seriously? y'all actually expect these academia types to be in touch with reality? not for decades!

They're really not. They have waivers for things like this for this very reason.
It is absurd that they haven't made a decision on it yet either. The man is handing out gear with thousands of other HS and college logos on it. What do they think he's going to do? "Hey kid, play for Houston but here's some great Alabama gear.".
It's their hypocritical asses being just that.

Ok. How do you really feel about the ncaa bud??
I'm not a fan of the ncaa, but I'm not going to believe it's easy to control things like this. Either you put a hard line or you allow cracks that we all know will be abused.

They initially blocked Fournette from donating his jersey to USC two years ago when he wanted to raise $ for the rebuilding efforts. It was quickly overturned and allowed

It's much easier than they make it out to be.
That's what their compliance staff is trained to control. Yet year in and year out they flounder on things like this that are pretty basic humanitarian moments.
