We hear from all the Bama Fans, how they have all the resources to be successful. That the problem has been coaching over the years. We see where Mark Gottfried couldn't get Bama over the hump, but then goes to a middle of the pack ACC Program, and wins at least 20 games every year. How do you explain it when the ACC > SEC in basketball, and UA has more money to spend on athletics ?

Mark Gottfried didn't want to be at Alabama anymore. The results showed in his final 2 seasons. So he was granted his wish. He probably is happier at NC State where he doesn't have to compete with the football program.

He has abysmal conference records at NC State, very similar to those at UA. The only real difference is that he's managed to win a few games in the tournament at NCST.

Mark got fried is only as good as the assistants he has. When Tom ashbury left, it was downhill. give bobby lutz credit.

How is what he is currently doing any different from what he did at UA? Shitty OOC lets him rack up wins before conference play, then go close to .500 in conference, finish with 20+ wins, limp into the NCAA tournament as an 8 or 9 seed.

20 win teams with a poor RPI do not get in the NCAA.

NC State's RPI is #40. That's not great.

But 15 win teams with BRUCE PEARL on the bench makes you jizz all over yourself.

20-13 with an RPI of 40 is basically the definition of a bubble team.

He is 4 for 4 while at NC St and has made it to at least the 2nd Round every year. I am just wondering if Bama now regrets firing him. It would be like watching Tuberville winning a NC at another school.

The second round is the first round for most teams.

An 8 Seed is not a bubble team.

They have been an 8, 12, 8, and 11 seed in those four years.

At the time of Gottfrieds firing, the program was spiraling downward. Situation is different now for Gottfried at NC State. Took a few years off and got a fresh start. You can't assume had he stayed at Alabama he would have overcame his decline and turned it around.

It's not a team that made it by a wide margin.
