The NBA will most likely soon increase the age limit from 19 to 20 in the near future.

This will mean a minimum of 2 years of college ball for players, rather than 1.

I think this will benefit college basketball tremendously, as you can actually sort of build a program again.

One and done's have been devestating for college basketball IMO.

Who knows? With an extra year to attend school, college basketball players must actually attend class and find that they love it.

I'd like to see the #1 NBA pick be a quantum mechanics major.

Or they can go overseas, or hire an agent to pay for a personal trainer for 2 years.

Only effects a handful of teams in any given year.

Speaking of quantum mechanics:

1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 5.... = -1/12

or did I just break your brain?

Brandon Jennings is the only one with real success that way, but even he didn't care for it.

Your opinion would be a shite one then. This effects like 4 schools in a given year.

We've gotten to see kids play college basketball that would have gone straight to the NBA under the old system.

I've been in college for 4 years. 90% of my classes still blow.

How dare these kids go make millions of dollars.

Personally I think this will lead to more of the elite high school talent going overseas to earn a living for two years instead of college for two years. The one and done thing made the school part of college a sham, one semester and then kids had nothing to worry about grade-wise. Now they'd have to stay eligible for three semesters. Making money in Europe for two years instead of going to class for nothing is going to be very enticing.

This just isn't remotely true. Ever heard of an APR score?

I'm not sure Julius Randle is real concerned about how his test next week will affect Kentucky's APR.

Then Kentucky wouldn't have one of the best APR scores in the conference. It is a faulty assumption that isn't supported by any actual facts.

I wish they would do it like MLB. You can go pro out of high school but if you choose to attend college you have to stay for 3 years.

They can try but I doubt it will take off. There was a good article in the NYT about a top prospect who chose to go play in Israel instead of going to college (before leaving he was the next Lebron James and known all over the bball circuit). It turned out to be a nightmare for him. All of the guys he played with were grown arse men who were mature (army veterans). He couldn't relate to them and had trouble making friends because of the age and maturity differences. He wanted to go home soon after arriving but found out that he couldn't - he was owned by that contract and separated from everything and everyone he knew. Nothing was like the kid expected it to be. His coaches couldn't reach him - the only one who could was an 'agent' who promised him the world and a reality tv show that never did happen.

The kid went from top NBA draft prospect to nothing.

Two years might be a breaking point. Right now they go a short period without being "paid". Two could push it.
