I met some young people (students) coming out of the stadium on Saturday. They were walking and talking quietly amongst themselves about the game.

After walking along side them for a short stint I asked if they were students at TAMU to which they replied they were. We made a bit of small talk about football and Trevor and their remaining schedule and I tried to lift their hopes about the rest of the season. This was Texas A&M's third trip to Tuscaloosa and their second loss. However, each time the students-fans I've engaged in conversation (both before and after the game) have been nothing but extremely polite and respectful. All five (male and female) would reply "Yes, sir." or "No, sir." or in similar regard.

I've always tried to be a gracious host to every fan base that visits Tuscaloosa. I've also found that each time I've presented a friendly smile and bit of conversation, it's reciprocated. This includes fan bases that make biennial trips to Tuscaloosa. These experiences tell me Southern Americans are simply nice people - in person.

To the 5 young people that asked directions to a bar, I hope you had a good trip, despite the loss.

I agree - every Ag (and most opposing fans) I've encountered the last few years has been good people.

I've enjoyed all 4 of my trips to Tuscaloosa even though I've only seen the Tigers pull out 1 victory of the 4 (GOTC). The older fans are some of the best I've come across. I would put their older fans, State fans, and Aggie fans as the most gracious hosts I've been around. The younger generation Bama fans (29 and younger) are clowns (at least the ones I've had interactions with), but the same can be said for most venues. An older couple near the BCM at the GOTC gave me some of the best BBQ I have had outside of the state of Texas. Great place to go to a game.

Honestly the only fanbases I have had negative experience with are UF, Tenn, UGA, and oddly USCe. I don't think that represents the entire fanbase bc other than Tenn, it was only 1 negative experience.

Can't wait to hit UK, Vandy, and Mizzou in the next 10 years or so, so that I can say that I have seen LSU play in every venue in the SEC

That is what the league is all about, and for the most part it's filled with good, fun loving hospitable folks.

We all argue and fight on the airwaves and the internet but I have found that the vast majority of fans who travel have similar experiences in the SEC. Good ole southern hospitality!

I've yet to have any really bad experiences in the SEC--Arkansas fans in Fayetteville were perhaps a little less friendly, but still, mostly indifferent to our presence. I think one reason why it is different is that the number of fans who travel is so much larger than in other conferences. The Big XII visitor's allotment is 3850, and virtually no one actually claimed the full allotment at Kyle on a regular basis, except for the sips (sooners and raider were next most likely--the rest hardly bothered at all). When you rarely encounter a visiting fan, some folks just don't know how to behave.

I agree, we make the trip to Tuscaloosa every other year. We set up in the Quad and cook a huge gumbo and everyone is very nice. Of course we feed anyone that walks by. I plan on making that trip every year. Always been a great time.

A Florida fan (female) once threw an empty, plastic flask at me during a game at Neyland.

I think most of the piss balloon throwers (non-student) have been priced out of the game, and most millenials (students) are too busy tweeting or texting to bother with piss balloons.

Nebraska. Their fans traveled WELL. I'd say it was Sips, Huskers, Sooners, Raiders/oSu. Baylor hardly ever brought anyone, even though they're 90 miles away or so. In fact, the final game we had with them in Kyle they had RG3 to support, Briles coaching them, they knew it was the last chance to come there, and they still returned almost all of their allotment. Just a breathtakingly pathetic fanbase.

Only bad experience I have had was at Miss St. of all places 2 years ago. Sitting in the middle of Miss St. fans down by a few TDs and wife went to get a drink and some a-hole was mouthing off at her as she passed by him 5 seats over on our row by the aisle.

Unfortunately for him I saw it and was in front of him almost immediately. As you would expect, any guy that mouths off at a woman minding her own business was a chicken shite when another man walked up.

Been to Ole Miss, South Carolina, Bama twice, Auburn Auburna, Arkansas a few years back, and Vandy on the road. Normally go out for a few drinks before and after the game so normally around opposing fans. In 4+ years in the SEC that was my only issue ever with opposing fans. Really my only issue at Miss St.
