My perception of aTm before they joined the SEC vs my perception now

If someone would have asked me back in 2005 what I thought of aTm, I probably would have said "they're a historically solid program who have fallen on hard times due to some bad coaching hires (Francione), and that they have probably been held in check by their big bro (Bevo) for much of their history."
Now that they are in the SEC, I realize they are much less than their persona would have you believe, and they may be the most bizarre fan base in all of college football.
The fact that they beat their chests over very little historical success is well-documented, so I won't go into that other than to say that it is laughable. I mean...aggie's biggest win in the last 20 years (maybe more?) was against Bama - and bama still went on to win the BCSCG.
What strikes me as so peculiar about Aggie is the fact that they don't seem like Texans at all. They seem more like a bunch of farmhands who yearn for the respect given their Longhorn overlords. While this isn't totally unlike the way Aubie behaves toward Bama, Aggie's obsession with Bevo goes to very strange places. It's like everything they do is devoted to convincing everyone that they will someday grow up to be Bevo's equal...which we all know is untrue.
Then we have the weirdo cadets. I was shocked to learn that this bunch is in no way affiliated with the US Army. That means they are basically a club of sword-carrying boy scouts who are being told how to yell by a bunch of other bending & contorting weirdos in white overalls.
Then there's the whole thing with the jars and whatnot.
Long story short...I wish y'all wouldn't have been allowed into the SEC.
I blame Gene Stallings.

Initially I was against this thread but I will allow it.

Familiarity almost always breeds contempt--particularly among sports fans.

Have you seen Shallow Hal?
That's the Ag fanbase.
They see their program as a SEC/national power, as elite.
The world sees their program for what it is.

The dude just basically wrote an essay on how that win was meaningless and you thought you'd drop the sick burn by posting a picture from it. Well done. I'm sure OP is devastated.

Could be.
No thanks necessary.
We're happy to educate.

I was really excited when A&M joined the SEC. I thought it was awesome to have another school with military history like Ole War Skule in the SEC. They do have some strange traditions but they're unique and it makes them who they are. I have a lot more respect for A&M than I do some of the SEC charter members.

Seriously though. Considering we won the NC that year...that picture doesn't really bother me. We got revenge the next year too..And not to mention last year. 59-0. I really don't think they want to go there...

Thank you. Your post is important to us. I hope that some responses will help validate your feelings. Until then, it may help if you changed out your tampon and take a Midol with one glass of Crystal Light.
