So I just got a handwritten letter in the mail from my father today. He has a bachelor's and a master's degree from LSU. He wrote the letter while watching the LSU/Bama game. I love my dad but I felt I should share this with strangers on the internet. Here's what the letter said.

quote:

Dear Hugo (not my real name),

To use one of your grandfather's quotes, “I am so pissed I can't see straight.”

Whoever called the plays at the beginning of the game, well for that matter the whole game, should be fired. The score is 20-10 Bama, five minutes and change in the 3rd quarter. Fournette has 14 yards on too many carries. Did not the LSU coaches know they would key in on #7?

Bama is about to score with 3:37 left in the 3rd... Nebraska just beat Michigan State... If we can hold them to a field goal, we're still in it. Is it Cam Cameron that calls the plays?! Is it Les Miles? Bama scores a Touchdown!! 27-10 Bama.

My friend who is a rabid LSU fan hates Les Miles. Mr. X is 74 years old. He had a son who went to LSU. He has Cadillac with LSU stuff all over it and the flags. He likes to drive it around the day of the game but he take the stuff off after the game because people would steal his stuff.

Our defense is tired... You sure were correct about their linebackers and defensive line. Louisville destroyed Syracuse. I lost that one. I am one win and one loss for the year. End of 3rd. Give me a call sometime this week and let me know who calls the LSU plays.

Love you,
Dad

Bama just kicked a field goal. 30-10 Bama. Fournette did not get a lot of yards because of the LSU Coaches!! I am sure glad he plays next year. 13 yards on 16 carries.. Bama's Henry has done well but you can't compare the two. This game is not over!! Harris just completed a pass for 20+ yards. Harris is off tonight. #7 just had a nice run. Then these idiots gave it to #7 again -1yard.

Love you dad!

Your dad would be one of the better posters on the rant.

I finally watched the game last night off the DVR. I only watched the first quarter Saturday night and then bits and pieces but last night I was finally ready to watch.

The 2nd quarter wasn't bad at all. Brandon settled down and Cam called a lot of pass plays. We still tried to run (you have to) but I thought it was well done.

The 3rd quarter was a dumpster fire. But it all started when Brandon threw that INT. After that, he was rattled and we couldn't get anything going. Of course, I don't know that it much mattered as Bama's front 7 and their OL were throwing us around so badly.

But there were plenty of moments that made me put the gun back in the drawer and realize we aren't that bad. We quite a few negative plays on Bama's O, just nowhere near as many as they did on us.

Bama played one hell of a second half. They played a great first half as well but we were able to hang in there.

My melt is contained now and I'm hopeful again for every game against any team not named Bama.

That was actually pretty funny and pretty cool.

My mom refuses to watch Bama games live. She asks me to call her if Bama's ahead by three or more TDs and then she'll watch it.

Did your dad honor the sig bet? He should paste the LF7 sig pic to the end of all his letters.

So I just got a handwritten letter in the mail from my father today.

After my mom died, I found some letters from my dad to me from the 80s. I was living with my mom at the time a few time zones away and he was all alone in Baton Rouge so he'd give me updates on how the Tigers were doing. Very City Slickers-esque communication between me and my dad -- instead of baseball it was LSU football. As LSU was very bipolar in the 80s (this is right before it all came unraveled under Archer) his updates were always filled with highs and lows.

The Earthquake Game was one of the few games I remember seeing on TV while I was away. I went to a lot of games in Tiger Stadium with my dad and it was weird watching us beat Auburn from what felt like the other end of the earth. Now I'm way far away again but every single game is on TV so I don't feel like I'm missing much. I do miss fresh letters from the old man though. Bastard never writes anymore.

Thanks for sharing Hugo.

I might never watch another LSU-Bama game live.

Probably find some outdoor activity to do in the mountains far out of cell phone range.

I thought Kiffin called a great game, btw. I started a thread after the Ole Miss game critiquing some of his play calls but pretty hard to find fault with his calls in the LSU game.
