A source close to Lattimore confirmed Wednesday night that the Gamecocks’ all-time leader in touchdowns will join Muschamp’s staff in May 2016.

Lattimore will not be a coach – instead, he will talk to the Gamecocks about life off the field beyond football, similar to what he does in his leadership academies through his foundation.

Lattimore can’t officially join the staff until he graduates in May, but he will serve a role that allows him to be around the program without the time-consuming rigors of an assistant coach.

Glad Lattimore is getting an opportunity. Seems like a great guy. Wish he could have stayed healthy.

His story coming back from those injuries and seeing his impact now it just shows how unfair life and sports are sometimes.

He's doing nearly the same things he did at UF. He brought in Chris Leak to coach.

Leak coached WRs.

So will he become a GA after he graduates in May?

Good for him One of my all-time favorite non-AU SEC players. Still wish he would have come to AU, but as it turns out Stephen Davis' advice to stay instate and become an instate hero is already paying off.

Marcus Lattimore is an all time player and an all time man in this conference. He will always get my support.

The way I read it, he will be a "life coach" for the kids in a support role. May become a GA not sure.

So he's not doing the same thing? It says in the OP he's not going to be a coach. A football coach, anyways.

Me, too.

Seems like more of a paid ambassador/life coach/motivator roll at this point..and y'all know it will help with recruiting.

There is nobody else that can represent The University of South Carolina with the same dignity, passion, dedication and class as Marcus Lattimore.

Forever #21.

Very cool, really happy for the guy. Bummed that he went out like he did. One of the only players in the SEC not on UT that I've enjoyed watching.

That was big news. He'll be a very positive presence and force in the program, plus he'll now be getting a stipend to pay for his Master's degree. He'll finish his Bachelor's degree in May.
