Solid job so far for someone that's never ran more than a 5k.

Even more impressive that he's doing this while not being able to sleep for a year and a half.

How can he participate in a marathon with the lack of sleep he's had over the past two years? The guy can't have any energy.

I believe he said he has never ran a 5k, as in an offical one. I am sure he has run much farther than that is he is attempting a marathon.

He said that he has never participated in an actual race but that he has run 20+ miles while practicing.

He's doing it for a charity to benefit kids of Mississippi. Good for him.

I'm curious how he got the strings pulled to gain entry without qualifying to run in the Boston. I'd like for my first race ever to be the BM.

He's a fricking D1 football coach and you're a common man. Are you really much more curious?

This has to be just a figure of speech. People will die from a total lack of sleep.

The effects of sleep deprivation are cumulative and even a habitual lack of adequate sleep will cause psychosis. A recent discovery shows why.

quote:

Lymphatic vessels, which piggyback on blood vessels, distribute immune cells to tissues to fight infection and carry fluid away from tissues to dispose of cellular waste. This complex drainage system has been found in nearly every part of the human body but not, until now, in the brain.

quote:

“No one knew there were those ‘pipes’ in there that could take out the brain’s trash,” said Jonathan Kipnis, director of the university’s Center for Brain Immunology and Glia and the study’s senior author. “This is a huge leap in defining the lymphatic vessel system.”

So the brain is just like every other part of the body in its need for waste to be cleaned out regularly. How it works is fascinating.

The brain's lymphatic system, nicknamed the "glymphatic" system, only operates during sleep periods. The tiny vessels close up and become inoperative when the brain is awake.

This explains why we sleep and why it's so dangerous to ignore an adequate amount of sleep. Waste can build up to toxic levels quickly.

You might even say that people who don't sleep well have "shite for brains."

After we beat him in 2014. He said he wouldn't be able to sleep again till the next egg bowl. We're assuming he still hasn't been able to.

Hang a cheeseburger in front of him and he wins it. He will run his arse off trying to get that burger and will have to stay in front of those starving Ethiopian runners.
