Havent heard much about him, but if I'm an SEC program looking for a coach, I'd look at Middle Tennessee. I watched a bit of that game last night and that's a good-looking basketball team. They won 31 ballgames this year. Anyone in the league looking at him?

He did coach at LSU before going to MTSU. He didn't really hit his stride until the last five years or so.

He has the attributes of a Joe Alleva hire

- No current, or prior demand of him considering he has been at MTSU for a while now. Makes you wonder why that has been the case.

- Can be obtained on the cheap.

Have to be careful with hiring the shiny looking mid-major coach.

You don't want to be Darrin Horn'd.

Yeah we took that mid-major pill some years ago by hiring Tony Barbee. But for whatever reason, Kermit's got that program rolling. They set a record and won 17 conference games.

Kermits a good coach. LSU could and probably will do much worse. David Hobbs is probably the leading candidate

Kinda curious how hard it would be to get him out of MTSU. He has a great thing going, can probably make way more money than he will ever need, and can win more than he would in the SEC. Better to reign in hell, right?

Or Anthony Grant'd. But I agree. It's really more about fit and personality when you're at a football school in a football league.

He is 100% LSUs fallback guy

Not sure who our top target is, but Davis is a guy that would no doubt come

So you watched 2 minutes of an MTSU game and immediately think he should be an SEC head coach?

Tell me more, gomer.

Why don't you shoot him an email (kermit.davis@mtsu.edu) and let him know that. "hey dude. you aren't a top choice for us, but you are a fall back and we are confident you'll leave the place you've been for 15 years to come spend your 60's coaching our team".

Everyone loves that type of flattery.

Says who? The Rant? Davis says they want and are building the new "Butler". Looks to me like that is happening, why leave for a gig that has passed you over twice now

My team plays them every year, and his 1-3-1 zone press as the ball is brought up the floor, followed by a matchup zone once they cross mid court is much more convincing than watching 2 minutes of a NCAA tourney game...Kermit would give Mike White fits in spite of the difference in talent.

Ben Howland's name is getting mention for the Washington job. IF that happen, Kermit Davis Jr. would be the first call.

He is from Mississippi and played at State and his dad coached at MSU.

Has Kermit managed to air brush out completely his one year stint as head coach at A&M way back in 1990? There is a reason no major school has hired him since that fiasco. Kermit probably needs to coach somewhere under the radar. I don't think his success at MTSU would translate to success at the SEC level, so, as an Aggie fan, I sincerely hope someone in the SEC does hire him--we need all the help we can get.
