MSU Softball isn't grinding for their state

Just saw a replay where MSU struck out a FSU batter for the 3rd out, but the ball hit the dirt. The batter starts to walk towards the dugout, then turns back around and runs to first. MSU has half of their players still on the field so they throw it to first but it isn't in time. Meanwhile, MSU's coach is consistently telling her girls to get in the dugout. So they roll the ball on the ground. Meanwhile, FSU's girls continue running and they score 2 runs.

Don't know softball rules but in baseball, the batter should have been called out for "abandoning the base" once he walked back to the dugout.

Those umps certainly had no fricks to give about that rule.

At least he isn't at a softball game. SIL played for state and I attended more than I would have liked.

The grown men having temper a tantrums about this were quite funny. One old guy in a State shirt and jorts kicked a pile of rocks.
