A few weeks ago, at least Bama, LSU, and Auburn were contenders. Some thought an East team, be it GA or FL, may get in the mix too. After the LSU loss (nobody really thinks of it as an MSU win), all of the pundits are starting to say that the SEC is mediocre outside of Bama. Heaven forbid we beat them too!

Sorry guys.

How did your demolishing of a mediocre team have any affect on the east?

Don't ask me. I guess people expect us to beat GA, so they are already making excuses? I'm just repeating what I'm hearing.

It's got to be a real punch to the gut, when your program's big statement win is treated as an indictment on the state of the conference.

Yup. But there is time (and opportunity) to change that perception.

Hah! Ain't no virgins wearing maroon around here. Punches to the gut wouldn't even wake us from a nap. The feels are for Pollyanna's and "image" type programs

You might beat Georgia. What's going to happen if you don't?

I assume we'll play Auburn September 30. Of course we could just disband the program.

MSU may be able to complicate things in some areas, but they won't stop Jalen Hurts at all.

We got thick skins. Way better than it was ~10 years ago, before Mullen, when coaches actually got fired 'cause they got beat my State under Sly Croom.

From Yahoo Sports .. "His name had been turned into a verb – "Croomed" – which meant an opposing coach was fired, in part, for losing to Mississippi State and Sylvester Croom. Florida Croomed Ron Zook back in 2004. Alabama Croomed Mike Shula in 2006.

Well you would think after we reached #1 for 5 weeks in 2014 and the success of the Dawg program in the recent years that that perception would have melted away. It is interesting that our victory over LSU is because they are bad, they suck, the coaching is bad, they have declined, LSU OL/DL are not elite anymore and on. It is not that MSU has improved itself to be on the same level as LSU (heaven forbid that could happen). Nobody looks at the last 4 years MSU-LSU scores (2-2) 2014 State 5 pt win, 2015 LSU 2 pt win (State missed FG on last play to win it), 2016 LSU 3 pt win, and this year State 30 point win. Can't be that the teams are basically even is it?

Now all of the sudden the SEC is mediocre because Vandy beats KState and all of the sudden they are a pretty good team. Auburn loses to Clemson, A&M melts against UCLA, UF gets drilled by UM and Arky gets creamed by TCU and then end result is that the SEC sucks now.

Ok, I get it. Please carry on.
