Make no mistake, Gene Stallings was fired from Alabama

If we open up the discussion to every coach we think might have been forced out, this will include nearly every coach of all time.

Who fired Bear

Jerry Stoval made him quit. 20-10.

Bryant said after that loss it was time to go.

For Arkansas, the answer is Ken Hatfield, not Lou Holtz.

1984 7-4-1
1985 10-2
1986 9-3
1987 9-4
1988 10-2 SWC Championship
1989 10-2 SWC Championship
Fired
1990 3-8 Jack Crowe

55-17-1 with 2 SWC trophies in 6 years.

Plenty of coaches "retire" but were really fired.

If that's the case, I'd say Bear Bryant.

Quite possibly the dumbest thing ever posted on tRant.

Congrats.

R.C. Slocum won the weakest conference in College Football only 3 times out of 7 seasons in the SWC and only finished higher than 3rd twice in the Big 12 South.

He went 3-9 vs. Leach, Brown, and Stoops and 2-9 in bowls.

Success is somewhat relative.

If what you're getting at is 'most ungrateful school to fire a coach for no reason other than becoming spoiled' then I suggest Jeff Bower at Southern Miss.

I know it was Southern Miss, and he didn't win any National Championships, but he won consistently for over a decade - constant upsets, top 25 finishes, conference championships, etc. Turned down chances to go to bigger better programs, too. Then the dummies force his resignation because they thought they deserved better and they quickly got Bigger, Better Deal'd by Fedora and then they run into the train wreck that was Ellis Johnson. Good. Bower deserved better by his employers.

Next one was Frank Solich.

And all this time I thought he quit because he knew we would have to leave the SWC and he couldn't cut it in any other conference.
Jack Crowe - Lord have mercy.

Did they retire? Or did they "retire" (wink wink).

Saban got fired as Ohio State DB coach in 1982, when Earle Bruce canned the entire OSU defensive staff after losing to Navy.

Gene Chizik. Won NC in 2010 with a 14-0 record and was fired 2 years later.

I know for a fact UK offered him more money to stay, but he told them he didn't want to play second fiddle to the basketball coach.

This right here. Rupp and the Bear both won the SEC the same year at UK. Rupp got a new Cadillac. Bear only got a watch. That was the end of the Bear at UK. He was like frick this shite!!!
